Good, bad? I personally haven't read it yet, but it seems that I will 'cause it's summer reading. Just wanted to know what everyone else thought, before i started reading.

I liked it, though I sort of skipped a good portion of the book, 'cause it was for school and I didn't have time to read in detail.

George Orwell = Genius

It's not a great book if you don't understand it though. I have no idea how sdb managed to skip parts and still like it. It's somewhat like Brave New World, if you've ever read that.

Brave New World is a much better book in my eyes. I used both 1984 and BNW in my dissertation, and I found the latter to be a much more exciting read. Although I do think that Orwell was able to represent a futuristic distopia with an extreme amount of skill, I still think that Huxley portrayed it with more flair in BNW. I'm not going to go into any detail about either because I could go on for hours. And I don't want to.

Those are both good. I was a bit lost when I read BNW at one point but it was a very good book. I liked 1984 more though. And why doesnt any one know about We or Fahrenheit 451? We came before all of them. It was a fantastic book, Fahrenheit 451 was another one of my favorites also.

I haven't started reading Fahrenheit 451 yet(I considered mentioning it, but wasn't sure if it fit), and I'm only half way through Brave New World. The paragraphing in the one section where it was a different conversation every paragraph was annoying and confusing.

1984 = good

it's gonna be a pain, but make sure to read it fully cause it is enjoyable.

451 = also good

same reason for 1984

both are worth while reads.

I wasnt very fond of BNW, I felt it was to flashy, not as much substance as 1984, which I believe is one of the greatest books ever written. Everyone should read that book.

And on the topic of 451, it was quite good, though the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Yeah it seemed too rushed. Not enough closure really.

And why hasnt anyone read We? Its the original negative utopia.
