Did anyone else enjoy his work? I liked the Rum Diary and of course Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. If you're not a reader, atleast watch the movie (its stars Johnny Depp by the way...). Definitely one of my favorites.

I've only seen the movie. One of the coolest movies...ever. It's a shame though.

A drug addic and alcoholic blows his brains out. I feel bad for the fact that he'd do such a stupid thing. For all other reasons I dont feel sorry for him. He killed himself. Just because he wrote some good books doesnt mean he's a great person.

The writer himself, Hoag said, will be missed. "There's no one in the world these days who writes the truth ... as he seems to, to me," he said. "He spoke to the world and said what people were afraid to say."
He's from a time when whoring was not mandatory in journalism.

Yeah he was a really good writer too. Theres also a theroy going around that he was murdered. He was doing a lot of research about 9/11 and it was very negetave tward the bush administration. Some people say that the government killed him to silance him. Personaly I think the guy was drunk and put a bullet in his head. But what do you guys think?

I'm doing a research paper on him in my English class right now. Pretty interesting guy, though I don't like how he just imitated Hemmingway by killing himself. At least that's what I think his motive was.
I also don't think it was some kind of government plot. He killed himself, he'd probably do it eventually.
