It's a slice-of-life novel as well as a coming of age novel and, I might add, one of the best books I have ever read.

i take it you havnt read it.... its no romance and its not exactly a mystery... its a... drama.... you cant really narrow it down to a single genre.

and i hated the book. i hated it cause we had to read it in class, and i hated the teacher, the assignments for it, and the required reading portion of it. its OK, but not one of my favorites

Thats why we always look for the movies aye?
esp. for Hamlet, MacBeth.

Thats true for me too.

Of course since one, movies are always different, two, we had to do some quoting during our reading and three, I would have to spend money to rent it for a period of about 1 or two months, that wouldn't work.

I didn't really like this book...I had to read it twice, in 8th and 9th grade...the two plots of Boo Radly and the Ewell thing...were cool how they kinda mixed in the end...but other than that, I didn't really like it...

i haven't read it yet. my friend read it in 6th or 7th grade on her own and loved it, so i tried to read it too, but i didn't understand it. i'll probably have to read it for class in a year or so though.

I just finished reading it for school... =P I really liked it!! i don't really think that it should be classified as mystery or romance... Though me and my friend are for some strange reason into a whole Boo+Scout thing... ^^;; Hehe...

It sucked. It gave me no useful information on how to kill mocking birds...

It's not much of a Romance book or a mystery. It's a classic. It's gives the message that hurting someone who is good and only wants to help is wrong. It's a good book if you understand the messages and symbols in it. I relied on sparknotes to help me understand it and once I did I thought it was great. The reason it's great is because of it's theme and it was made in the time when America was segregated. Book was much better than the movie, but books usually are.

"a classic is book that everyone knows but no one reads" - Mark Twain, thought i should share.

Sparknotes are great.

Books take to long to read. 2 days vs. 2 hours you choose.

oh yeah, i have to read it in 2 months. so i'll wait until then.

I just started this book. Pretty boring so far, but it's gonna get good I hope. Chaps 1-4 were boring, just finished. It looks like it's going to be pretty profound though.

Also, I'd like to add that I love the quote, "It's a sin to kill a mockingbird". For those who have read it, you should know what it means, for those who haven't, you'll understand it when you do read it.

It's a well written book, but it's not my type of book to read. I had to read it in 7th grade.

it's sci-fi, because of all the pirates and burning sharks.

Yeah you can't really put it in either genre.... but I loved reading To Kill a Mockingbird! :D I think I read it in 9th or 10th grade... gosh looking back on that now. I'm friggin' old. Haha.

It's more drama than romance (what the hell? romance?) or mystery.

And I hated the book, not because it was a bad book, which it wasn't, but because I was forced to read it twice in high school because we got a NEW english teacher my senior year and HE wanted his curriculum to include a book that we had already read as FRESHMEN, plus there were all the annoying questions and being forced to read the book at the pace the teacher wants you to, whether you have time for it every night or not.

Your best bet is probably drama. I don't remeber any romance in there....besides the woman accusing the black dude of raping her. Romance you say? Maybe back in those days.

Well that's what the library is for! Though there are probibly so many holds on it from other students you couldn't keep it fro more than a week anyway...

I read it in, umm... 9th grade? I don't remember. It was one of the better books I've been forced to read.
