Who are they and why are they your favorite?
Mine is H.P Lovecraft. I was introduced to his work back in october by a friend of mine who swore by him. Now, I have never been a huge horror fan, but once I read a few of the stories in Waking Up Screaming, I was hooked. His ability to create an atmosphere is unparalleled, and his descriptions are so detailed, yet leave enough to the imagination so as to leave you even more frightened. Stories such as "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and "The White Ship" are quite possibly the best pieces of literature I have ever read. I look forward to reading even more of his work. And besides, anyone who can create a mythos(The Cuthulu and Necronomicon) lasting long after his death is quite the writer.

I have two favorites, my first one being Margret Weis. She and Don Perrin (her husband) and Tracy Hickman (Her partener) have created an entire mithos that has spawned well over 150 published stories, from over 20 authors since 1984. She has a way of writing that makes her characters, none of which are "good" people, go through choices that they have to do either to survive or for thier own motives. often her antagionists get as much time as the protagonists. Weis always has a good read and I am looking forward to her next book.
My other favorite writer is R.A. Salvator. He is a good writer if for nothing else the fight scenes that he creates are unparalelled. the action is seemless and it is almost as if the fight is one continous stream. Another good writer.

Mine would be Edgar Allan Poe, J.K. Rowling, Shakespeare and I guess Cynthia Voight. Basically because they seem interesting enough to me. ^^ Most poems I read inspired me and made me write more.

I love J. K. Rowling. She makes things so simple to understand and also makes they story SO gawd damn interesting. The HP series are my favourite books. I guess I'm just one of those idiots that can't understand more mature books. o0o0o well. I'm fine with these anyway.

1. J.R.R. Tolkien
-His stories are the most incredible pieces of literature ever written. He made a fantasy world with its own languages, believable characters, and taught many lessons through his books.
2. J.K. Rowling
-Even though she stole so many things from Tolkien's books, I love her books. Harry Potter's cute adventures are so amusing, except the moments when she kills a favorite character...grr...

Steve Perry....I just grew accustomed to his writing style since I've read so many sci-fi books by him. Most of which are totally unrelated (AvP, Star Wars, and some others)
Anne Rice's style had me hooked with the first few books in the vampire chronicles, though it grew a little dull later on in the series
and George R.R. Martin's style is very appealing to me. I'd sum it up with "the devil's in the detail."

I don't like any of those authors except for Cynthia Voight, who I've never heard of. I like Robin Mckinley, because its one of the only author's name I can remember. It's either her or J.R.R Tolkien.

George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, C.S. Lewis, Ray Bradbury, H.G. Wells, Jack London, Edward Bellamy, and Yevgeny Zamyatin. All of them have written books or novels on Utopia's and there terirble flaws. Negative utopia's are my sort of obsession and fear.
