OK really... Why do the school systems make us read stupid books that we really don't care about / like / will never read again? And there are some things (especailly in the Gifted & Talented and Advanced Placement classes) that really bug me - for example, why must I learn about the phycholigical studies? I'm not becoming a Psycholigist, and Psychology is a seperate class altogether! So what is the point of this?

I had to do a lot of things in school that bored the hell out of me.
Through most of school I did just like the guy in 'Office Space' I just plain refused what didnt interest me. When asked why I simply said " Dont get wrong, Im not lazy. I just dont care. How is reading a book about how all humans are pathetic and ignorant no matter what we do, ( Damned existencialism)supposed to encourage me to do well in school?'

I pulled that kind of thing with a lot of my teachers and nearly half of them loved me for it and let me read whatever I wanted because I was obviously 'above' the lesson plan.

Iv also got this amazing ability to give 100% attention to two things at once. A couple teachers tried to catch me not paying attention ( drawing ussually) and everytime I quoted what they had said word for word and they let me do whateevr I wanetd after that. Eh..learning skills that like is a life saver in school.

school systems just look for as many ways as possible to do 2 things. 1) suck the money from people's wallets with "fundraisers". and 2) bore the **** out of you with meaningless work and books.

Yea, it seems that way. Tho I did have a few cool Teachers who perposly went aginst school rules to teach us things that we would care about.

I also think its sickening that in Seattle they are probably going to have to shut down 16 schools while our sports players, who arent even any good get almost billions a year. Not that schools dont get any money at all, they ussually just blow it on refilling the Soda machines in the teachers lounge.

hehe, it wasnt that i didnt care, it was more like i was very lazy. i only did what was important. but dont do what i did. do all your work. this is a part of life, to do crap you really dont want to for no reason. schools always been like this. haha, i would sleep in class, remember you only get in trouble for talking, not if youre quiet...sleeping. the only way i passed, was because of my high ass test scores. school always try to scare you with those, and like to make it a major part of your grade. i would never do my homework, but still pass the subject. of course the only problem was, that most of the time i could only get no higher than a "C" so do your homework.
i know its confusing. but try your best. ask your classmates/friends for help. you dont have to master the material, just do what they ask for. as my prof. once told me, "You are very smart, but very lazy. you don't get graded on your intelligence. but your results." wtf was he talking about. im a dumb-ass. but its true, its based on performance. do the required crap, and get your "A"
one more thing, try to fully understand Math. remember formulas as much as possible, and try to use it. i never used certain types of math so now im paying for it. i'll be in school for a very long time.

Thats exactly what happened in my study skills class. I either sat sad and drew, or fell asleep.
The rest of the class were complete morons who blasted rap music through thier headphones so loud the whole class could here it and were always yelling and fighting with each other.
One day when report cards were handed out the kids thhough a fit and I spefically remember the converstaion " How come SHE got an A and we failed?! All she does is draw!" The teacher replied simply ' Becuase shes quiet!" Hehe victory for me! )those kids were always making fun of me. But one of friends got teh worst expelled for it ;) )
So its true in some classes, ussually depends on how crazy the other students make the teacher, that youll do fine if you just dont cause any trouble

Haha, same here. Except my teachers are VERY messed up and they try to come with some lame excuse to yell at me. In math, I was talking to my friend and laughing and she thought I wasn't doing the work. So she came up to me and asked to see what I've done. Turns out I was the only who finished the math problems and got everything right =P I just keep my ears open whilst doing other things during class.

why must I learn about the phycholigical studies?
So you can play mind games with others whenever they feel like playing.

I'm fine with remembering forumulas and crap, It's just critically analyzing things. The biggest thing that I don't understand is that I can understand why you have to take Math. You use it everwhere, even if you don't realize it (for instance, college is 2-3 years away. I have $700. College needs more money than that. Start working now!). But things like History / Government / Social Studies are a little questionable. I learned a lot of interesting things there.

But Science and English I just dont get. Ok, I mean I like science and all. but If your not going to do anything in that field, then why must you take it? And English. I speak English! Why must I be forced to take something that should be called "American / World Literature" or "Reading Critically"? I can understand them in Elementary School, and mabye Middle, But defenitly not high school. You would have never gotten me to sit down and read a single one of those books they made us read. And what is the purpose of knowing what a Prepositional Phrase / Subjunctive/Adjetive/Noun Clause / Direct/Indirect Object/ ect. is? I don't know of any jobs or professions that require you to know what those are and how to use them - unless your an English teacher.

I feel the same about math actually. I mean sure we ALL need basic math. But if someone wants to be say..a writer. Why the hell would you need calculous or advanced Geomatry?

I think the only math that should be required is stuff like simple adding ,subtracting, multiplication and division and even the basics of Geomatry and that sort of thing. Then the really complicated crap that you pretty much only need for specific jobs should be required only if your trying for said job. Otherwise, its time wasted that could be spent learning something you wll use.

i totally agree with Marth and Kuja_sama. haha, all i know is my basic multiplications up to 12 and thats good enough for me:riiight:

geometry isnt needed. and as long as you can pay for stuff w/out getting ripped off. who needs more numbers and words?
