Heard alot about the book and saw a tad of the movie. Seems like it would be a good movie if your able to detatch yourself from the religion for a good two hours.

I was actually thinking of doing this thread but just out-n-out forgot.
Anyways, I love this book and the movie. Im going to buy the dvd when I can. I don't have the book but I did read it. So I'd like to get that too.
There are so many great quotes from this book.
"Fairness does not govern life and death. If it did, no good man would die young"
There are many and plenty others as well.
I reccomend checking this book out if you have the time, and if not then see the movie. It's pretty much the same, maybe a few differences but not much.

I saw it one time and really liked everything about it. It was a nice family movie too, in my opinion.

It all depends on who you are.
In Eddies(main character) case it was:
1- A blue man
2- His captian
3- Ruby
4- His wife
5- Tala
See, each of these people have changed his life in one way or another.
The blue man(he is blue from a liquid he drank while trying to cure or fix something that was wrong with him and he didn't like. He drank more than he should have and his skin turned blue) worked with Eddies dad. He worked for his "freak show" at the ammusment park called "Ruby's Pier". One day the blue man was driving(for the second time) and Eddie(as a child) ran into the street to get something, the man swurved out of the way, crashed, got out of the car and died of a heart atack. When he swurved, he saved Eddies life. The catch is, Eddie didn't even know it happened.
Lesson he teaches us: Strangers are family we have yet to meet.
His captian was when Eddie was drafted into the army. The captian saved his life. They were POW's and rose up against he people who captured them. They burned al the houses there(there were in Korea I think) so the houses were straw and what-not. Eddie thought he heard someone in one of the burned houses. At the time he was in a dave and was walking toward the house. No one could stop him, so his captian shot his leg and they woke him from his dave, and saved his life. On the was to the car, the captian stepped on a mine and kaboom. Died. He also saved Eddies life.
Lesson he teaches us: Sacrifice.
Ruby was the wife of the man who origionally owned the park. He named if after her but eventually had to sell it. Many people we injured, hurt and died due to the making of the park, and also just being there (rides, people there etc..). So while in HER heaven she made it a little dinner where the people who were harmed can go and be safe. There Eddie had to forgive his father(not getting into detail of why).
Lesson she teaches us: Forgivness
His wife was the fourth person he meets. He loved her to death and she was his world. She waited for him until after the war. Years later she died of a tumor(right?) and left him. He was devastated. After he died and they talked in heaven, she tells him something.
Lesson she teaches us: Love is never ending, it just changes shape and form.
The fith person he meets would be Tala. Tala is a little girl he killed during the war. She was the figure he thought he saw in the burning house. She tells him this and he gets very sad, she has him wash away the burns and all is ok(ofcourse there is a lot more)
Lesson she teaches us: I have no idea what it is, can someone who knows help me out?:riiight:
I tried to not get much into detail. It would make way more sense if you jsut read or the book, it's not long. Or atleast watched the movie.
Also like I said, there is a lot more to each person he meets and what goes on.
