That's about all I read, outside of class assignments.
Currently Reading:
Robert Jordan's WoT
and the Dark Elf Trilogy
WoT is best series I have ever read, hands down.
LotR is best single book ever. Yes it IS 1 book. Not 3. Read the Preface in the new versions.

The only two fantasy books i've read are Lord of the Rings (Great books that I know a lot about) and Harry Potter. I don't read for pleasure though. I usually make time to read books unless required.

Fantasy has always been the books I read the most. I only read other types for school. So many people love WoT and I've wanted to read it but never have...so I currently bought the first one. *sweatdrop* About time. Currently I have no time to read for pleasure..so fantasy books are going to have to wait.
I've read Harry Potter 1-5, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Artemis Fowl, The Inheritence Book 1, His Dark Materials Trilogy, The Bartimaues Trilogy Book 1 all of which are really good books

Inheritence 1 is Eragon right? i cannot WAIT for the second one.
I also read bartimeaus 2, but it wasnt as good.
Right now im reading The Demon Spirit, which is the second book in the demon wars saga by R.A. Salvatore. Despite how much I hate R.A. Salvatore and am still convinced he cant write worth ****, the demon wars are acually pretty ok.

I couldn't read LOTR past the Hobbit because it was over descriptive if there is such a thing. "The three-hundered and fiftieth leaf had three veins, not five as did the others..."
Exaggerating but you get it.

I read mainly Dragonlance novels and Forgotton Realms novels. I'm currently on about my 25 book this year. It's called Kaz the Minatour by Richard Knaak. It is a darn good book.
I have laso read LotR, It took me 6 months to read The Felowship, and about 5 for the other 3. I've spead up.:p
I have also read the first 13 novels in the Redwall series by Brian Jaques. Also good. Better for pre-teens because it is wirtten at a lowere level.

I love fantasy and scifi. However, I read one Forgotten Realm, and I hated it. I also was bored to tears by Eragon, but I think I was the only person on the planet who was. I think the recent Redwall books are going downhill too though, and Wheel of Time seems to be losing steam also.

True...they do get boring at times. But if you are judging them just on The Hobbit(Silmarillion too)...that doesn't work as well. I did the same thing. I thought The Hobbit was the worst and most boring thing ever. I actually didn't read the others because of it. But when I realised that they were making movies for it, I decided to try again. And it turned out...they were a bit better than The Hobbit. Still had boring chapters, but otherwise, much better than the Hobbit. But I see your point. They are VERY detailed.

I'm all about the Interview with a Vampire series, Drizzt Do'Urden series (all 16 off them), and the Dune series. LOTR was pretty decent, but I think the others are better. Oh yeah, I also tend to read a lot of stuff from the Black Library, or warhammer and warhammer 40k themed books, in particular the space wolves and ragnar blackmane series by William King...

Drizzt is a cool character, but when I read 12 books about the same person, by the same author (R.A. Salvator) I got burned out. The settings are diferent, but it's the same overall book, aside from The Crystal Shard and The Dark Elf Trilogy.
I prefer Dragonlance because Weis and Hickman vary the plots and characters.

I'm currently Reading:
Vampire Chronicles
1. Interview with a Vampire
2. The Vampire Lestat
3. Queen of the Damned
I'm on The Vampire Lestat.
Of those three, The Vampire Lestat is the best. Or atleast, I think so.
Other than Harry Potter which many people have read, I do like fantasy. I have not read the LoTR series, because I have had no desire to at all. I grabbed The Hobbit once and did not even want to read it. Why? I dunno.
My favorite series is the Dragon Nimbus series by Irene Radford. I'm currently on the Stargods #2, The Dragon Circle, which only recently came out. I'm sad because it'd cost me about 40 bucks for a book of hers, which I should be able to get for 6, because it's no longer in print.. which I really don't understand why.. Meh.
Anywho. It's really hard for me to start a new series. Give me recommendations.

The only fantasy books I've read are Hobbit, Fellowship of the ring, and several of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series.

Well, obviously I would suggest reading the Dragonlance Series. The core books are two trilogies, and as with all trilogies, the firs books are a bit slow, but otherwise I wouls say they are great.
Other than Dragonlance, I would Suggest the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey's as Zaffy mentioned. I have only read one short story from the series, but it was good as well.

Really good books, especially the first one The Lark and The Wren.

I started reading some of the Warhammer & 40K books I stole from my brother (my brother is a space marine, imperial guard, and dwarf). They were okay, not great though. Oh well. The worst fantasy books of all time are still the Forgotten Realms though.

I don't remember how many fantasy books I've read, but the most recent one I finished [which was last year] is called Tithe. A twisted fairy tale. o_o
Nothing special, but it's good, modern and all.

There are more than that. There's over 25 books written by the origional two authors, and there are about a dozen other authors.

A Song of Ice and Fire is a great series by George R. R. Martin. The books are very long, being 1000 pages on average (paperback). The three books are A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords. The next book is supposed to come out in June... 2 f*cking years after it was supposed to. Anyway, I really recommend this series, if you have time on your hands.

I was just wondering why C. S. Lewis was left out of the fantasy discussion. I have been a fan of his work since I've learned to read. If you liked the Chronicles of Narnia, you should check out the Silent Planet series. It's on a higher reading level, so don't expect childish antics here.
Or if you're more into the Christian theme behind Narnia, you can also pick up The Screwtape Letters by the same author. It's a collection of letters written by a demon to his nephew. Wonderful piece of literature
I've also read (and re-read) Neverwhere recently. The story of a London man who is thrown into an underground culture against his will.
And of course the great classic, the Don't Panic series. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the rest. I would reccomend not reading the final book however, as the ending in the book before it was the best. The last book took a kind of silly approach and seemed more forced than inspired.

~ dont forget to add The Body Snatcher and Memnoch the Devil. good reads...
I've read The Legacy of the Drow, The Wizards First Rule, Frequencies, LotR(inc. The Hobbit)....(more but i cannot remember the titles)
but yeah, i need to get back on the Forgotten Realm books...so little time.
sidenote - i read LotR 3 times already. boring....? far from it...though my first time reading it, i would have agreed....only because Tolkien writes with such detail and uses grammer in a way that i've never heard before. BUT, once you're able to recognize each characters' nuances...it makes for an amazing epic. come on now......boring? Tolkien created an entire language based on this book. what you're reading is almost like a history book. hahaha...ok, i see how some may be bored of it. me...? loved it. every time i read through it, i catch something i missed or understand something much more.
