I recently read this book and it's so touching and sad. It made me want to throw up and cry at the same time. I really recommend it because it's a true story written by the boy himself, now grown into a healthy adult. The author is David Pelzer, this book is part of a trilogy, I intend to read the other two later.

I loved that book, it was indeed touching and very sad. It took me half the day to finish it because I didn't put it down. By the end of it I cried. The way his mother treated him was insensitive and extrememly cruel and she made everyone think Dave was the crazy one.

I read "Lost Boy" (second book) it was a good book too, it was about him going through different foster homes. I still need to read the third one "A man named Dave", which i've been told is good too.

I think I've heard quite a few good reviews about the Lost Boy, I'm currently reading the Da Vinci Code(which I requested and waited forever to get) but I will get The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave. I want to finish reading about David Pelzer's life, it's worth reading.

It's a really good book, but I read it two years ago, so I don't remember much about it. I think there might have been another book called "They Cage the Animals at Night" by the same person, and it might be part of the same thing.

BTW: Uh, I've never seen whoever started this Thread before. Turtle's Nap? Uh... anyway, hey.

Well, I've heard of A Boy Called It. My English teacher talked about it, and the tragedy of it. I want to read it, but the thing is, I've heard that it's pretty traumatic things, for adults. Still, I'd give it a try. It's an interesting thing to read, and yes, it must be so sad. Imagine being called "it" as if you were nothing more than an animal.

If you loved this book, then I recommend Victor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning". It has the same theme, only better.

Heard a lot about it, apparently it's still rated as one of the saddest true stories that one can read. I'm one of those people that can be easily touched if I think about it, so I'd agree with you most likely. Thing is though, I've heard too much of it to the point where I'd prefer to read others... but I might give it a chance.
