Um, I just finished reading the Grapes of Wrath and it sucked. I'm in the middle of reading Deception Point by Dan Brown and its pretty good, although Angels and Demons was a lot better.

Don't know how much traffic this Forum will get...

I'm actually quite a sucker for anything written by Anne Rice. I've read eleven of her books so far with Blood and Gold being my favorite.

I'm currently reading The Witching Hour by her. I'm liking it so far.

I used to read for enjoyment about two years ago when I read the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings series in the same grade. Besides that, I haven't read any other books for my own enjoyment. This is a neat new section though.

Same here. I haven't gotten to the The Witching Hour yet though. Is it any good so far? And have you checked out The Vampire Victorrio?

Hard to find a book to read now a days. Senior year didn't turn out to be as easy as I thought :P

How can you not like Grapes of Wrath? John Steinbeck is my all time favorite author. Read Travels With Charley, you won't be disapointed.

Dan Brown is another excellent author, too bad for him The Da Vinci Code is his worst book by far.

I'm in the process of reading The Bourne Ultimatum by Robert Ludlum.

Steinbeck is pretty good, I actually finished reading The Pearl, it's short, but it's a good book.

Well, I've read about 50 pages of it so far, and I think it's good.

And yes, I have read Vittorio the Vampire. And Pandora. Those are the only two books from her New Tales of the Vampire series that I've read. I loved them both, but enjoyed Pandora just a little more.

I really want to read Blood Canticle seeing as how it's the only book from her Vampire Chronicles that I haven't read yet. Last time I was at the book store they were all out of copies of it so I bought The Witching Hour instead ;__;

Vittorio! Ha, I knew I got his name wrong :P
I'm about halfway through The Vampire Armand with Pandora and Vittorio sitting on the shelf still. I need to do some major catching up though, I just don't have the time to do it. :( I've actually been trying to find a copy of Memnoch The Devil.

Outside her vampire series you should definitely try out The Mummy; or Ramses the Damned if you can.

Blah..I talk to much >.>

Yeah, when I had summer reading I had to put my Anne Rice reading to a halt, which sucked.

Ah, Memnoch the Devil! Another favorite of mine (hell I love all her books). Lestat's journey through Heaven and Hell just sucked me right in. I couldn't set the damned thing down. And I just loved Memnoch's story of where he fell from Heaven onto the earth.

The Mummy; or Ramses the Damned eh? I was wondering about those... I'll have to check 'em out then. Is it just about a mummy or does it have vampires in it too?

Ah, if you haven't read Merrick then you really should! That one's great. It's a combination of Rice's Mayfair Witch series and Vampire Chronicles.

You actually liked Merrick? I thought it was the most boring of the series. Other than The Vampire Lestat I'd have to go with Blackwood Farm as my favorite.

As for what I'm reading now, I'm on a Warhammer novel called Witchhunter, which deals with...well....more vampires.

After that I'm going to read Aliens vs Predator: War and Aliens Vs Predator: Hunters' Planet. Can't remember which order they go in.

The Count of Monte Cristo is such a good book, read that like years ago, there is a movie too, kinda old tho but the book's better. Both Dumas, pere and fils, were great authors. I also recommend Lady of the Camelias, written by Alexandre Dumas as well. It's a really touching story, I think girls would like it better, hehe.

You'd think queen dragid would be the one to avoid to the tripple posting thing -_-' lol i guess authority gives you privlege

I read whenever i'm bored, when I hear about a good book or something interseting becomes a best seller I'll go and buy it and it'll just lie in my room until I have nothing to do. I currently have 3 books I'm planning to read since august, i'm just about to finish 1 book.

When its a really good book I usually finish it in like a week though. I'm planning on reading Angels and Demons soon (its the second of my 3 books)

Suprisingly, yes. Thankfully, I love to read. I just hate it when I'm forced to read something. Just like they do to you in school. I mean, some of the books they assigned me WERE good, but I hated a majority of the things they gave us.

School stuff/stuff I read in free time (just to name a few):

Black Boy
Pride and Prejudice
The Eye of the Dragon
Deathwatch
Fade
LoTR series
Circle of Magic series

Several video-game based novels:
Resident Evil
Halo
Starcraft
Warcraft
BattleMech/Mechwarrior

Some off Movies:
Aliens
...uh..some others, i forget

I read fanfiction online all the time... a lot of what I've read was pure crap, but I occasionally find a really really good fanfic.

On a side note, I still hate how people like some of those who go onto the boards to say how much they hate to read. ... Well what the hell do you think you're doing when you come to the boards? Yeah, that's right, reading. If you hate it so much, why do you bother to keep coming back just to *gasp* read? Oh, maybe it's because it's so damn easy to do it. Yeah, whatever.

Neway, yea i also like books by Dan Brown. I'm reading a Seperate Peace right now. its intresting i guess. Its pretty deep, and if you never think about what it says, you miss a lot of things. I also read books based on games like Halo. Lastly I read comic books, meaning manga.

I'm pretty sure everyone here reads for enjoyment. At the very least, they read manga. Hey, they're still books, right? Riiight.... Anyway, we pretty much all have to read for school, and that's not very enjoyable. So, no, I think our social lives (or lack thereof) take priority over that.

I'm reading The Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs (it's a massive drug trip, pretty darn awesome) and Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut. Both are quite excellent. I will also be reading the Divine Comedy by Dante for Brit Lit, so that's nifty too.
