Hey, Im a big fan of Poe's dark and mysterious works. I just wanted to find out how many people feel the same way.
My favorite poem is The Tell Tale Heart, For one reason alone... Poe makes me feel as if I am the stalking butler, staring into the cold dead glass eye everynight. Making me hear and feel the heart's beat underneath the floor. He makes so that I can feel and depict evey action and sound and movement all in my head. Another reason is that The Tell Tale Heart is sooooo suspenceful, it leaves me thinking about what will happen, leaving me at the edge of my seat with every word...
'Only this, and nothing more.'

Heh, I actully have a history project that I have to do about Poe. I have to have eight facts about him. It's this stupid "Who am I?" thing. Anyways, my favorite poems are The Raven and the Black Cat one(I don't remember the name of it.

Probably the one I remeber the most is The Raven, which I find way better than Shake Spear.

Sublime u r cool and Halena u r dumb. He is what influenced me to start writing poetry. I am far from being as talented as him, but I try. He is in my opinoin one of the greatest poets of all time. Because he has the ability to write poetry that makes u feel like u r there expiriencing it. O. And for those of u who are real big fans of him and his work, his last words were, "God have mercy on my poor soul".

Edgar allen poe was one of if not the greatest poets of all time. From the widely popular poem "the raven" and the unfinished ''the tell tale heart'' almost all his works were a masterpiece

I agree! poe is an absolute literary GENIUS! The Raven shows the despiration of the human soul to attempt to over come the lose of the love of ones life! "The only word there spoken was the whispered "Lenore" this I whispered and the echo murmered back the word "Lenore", this was it and nothing more." Also Annabelle Lee. The one repeated line "And we loved with a love that was more then love, I and my Annabelle Lee." Is so human. He could tap into our psychies! He drags out our emotions!! The Tale Tell Heart is my fav short story from the MASTER and CREATOR of the short stories. He has always been a wonderful writer and i Love poe.... aside from him marrying his 13 yr old cousin.....

I didnt know that Poe's last words were known. I understand that he died passed out in a drunken stupor in the ditch of of some road and wasnt found until the next day.

Not quite sure how he died but i do know that he was tortured for many years with inner demons hence his love of mystery and facination with death. He experienced so much pain and suffering that he was able to put himself in his work. For any writer to be affective and beleivable you MUST put a little bit of yourself in all your works. Its worked well for me aswell as Poe. I would never EVER try to compare my self to poe but it still holds true.
