For anime...you just have to keep doing it. When I look at my old drawings they look really bad. I don't necessarily know how to get you better at drawing in general. I was just born with it I think. It's what I do. I don't do sports or whatever. Been drawing and stuff since I was little. For you, just keep doing it. You'll get better...
Another way with anime is for the first times...try tracing a real one a few times. It could get you in the feel of it. Otherwise that is all I can think of. hee.

Just keep practicing. I've been drawing since I was little. I draw constantly and improve each year.
As for the anime thing, when I started trying to draw anime I would just look at an anime image and try to imitate the style. After a while I developed my own style and that's about it.
Remember, your not gonna learn how to draw perfectly overnight. You have to practice at it.

it's called practice , duh , practice = perfect ! just trace a bunch then once you get the motions and shapes down , attempt on normal paper free hand .

I can't believe I am about to agree with you. Yeah, in order to become a good artist, you should probably trace what you want to draw until you can mould the drawing to become your own work, then you will be able to draw however you want.
And another word of advice, don't draw what other people see, draw what you see. When you draw what others see, it's not really your art.

Stealing images helps a lot..(it helped me)...once you get use to the characters you are drawing you will get better..

If your barely starting I suggest drawing pictures of people from animes like Vash, Kenshin or other people that come to mind. Then as you get used to that kind of style try creating your own characters.

well it depends what youre talking about. I've drawn since i was 5. Big deal. no one cares. But its more like, what you want as a picture. You see, something like this : http://nothingness.topcities.com/robot/cmr/2pac.jpg i drew in 20 minutes while in Spanish class. Whereas when i did something like this: http://nothingness.topcities.com/robot/cmr/vash.jpg will take me more time, like 2 hours. Its like, it depends on what you want to make. If you want to make something like the 2nd picture, then you're gonna hafta put hella time into it. If you wanna just do something like the first, do what i did and look at a model. I saw some guy doing this position (with his shirt on, obviously) and made into 2pac later. Just work at your craft. I see those "learn-to-draw" books and theyre full of dumb stuff. Not one of those books has ever shown me anything i couldnt learn by looking at art myself.

For me, I started out tracing. You may say "Tracing sucks!" but it actually helped a lot when the best thing you could pull off was a ninja turtle. Then I went to drawing other pictures just by looking at them. And then concepts of my own.
Once you get the basic figure of humanoid characters down it's just more of a practice thing from there. A lot of "good" drawers are merely exploiting tons of detail.
Fictional animals, demons, wraiths, and divine beings can all be freely interpreted to how you see fit. They're usually the most interesting designs.
Yeah, I'm done babbling.

You just have to keep practicing. I had one of my friends draw me out a sample anime (I love drawing that stuff) and then practiced it over and over again. Now I'm much better. Sometimes I have her help me, but it's much more rare now. ^_^

Some people can draw and some cant lol It either comes naturally or it doesnt, but to get better just practice. trace, sketch alot, and just get comfortable with using the pen/pencil, then just throw down whatever's in your head, works for me :D

becoming good at drawing takes some time. you just need to keep practicing. what i did was search on the internet for websites with tutorials on how to draw anime. learn the basics there, then look at pictures and try to draw them using the skills you learned from the tutorials. once you think youre ready, create your own characters. keep at it and you can get better in no time.

i get good at drawing by just keep drawing.. when i was about 5 i used to trace.. so tracing helps a lot when yu get started..
practice. tracing wont get you anywhere unless you just want to draw one specific character. but if you want to be able to draw a completely free hand original piece, you cant rely on copying lines.
im currently an art major, and the classes ive taken thus far have made more of a differnce im my technique then i thought they. i think the most important class to take, or concept to understand, are the principles of life drawing. to understand the human figure and its motions.. that one class, have made all the difference.
but then again, those were studio classes. four hours of drawing naked people in different poses, three times a week. and thats not for everyone.. so if tracing works for you. go for it. eitherway, if you put in the effort it will pay off in the end.

you have no room to talk about being 'not funny'. you wasted several moments of my time reading that post you just made, and reading that inane graph you have. i can't tell if you wasted your time looking for that graph, or if you sunk down even lower to actually create it... but that's just sad. you've taken flaming down to a new low and i'm scared, appalled and confused. is everyone on dragid going to start using this half-assed version of flaming which includes improper grammar coupled with dumb, 4th-grade level graphs? i hope to god the answer is no.
if your drawing skills even rival your posting skills, you will always suck at drawing. your posts are not only a waste of everyone's time, but they further imply that you are mentally handicapped and should not be allowed to use a computer.

Another easy way to learn is to, yes it might sound wierd but, study anime pattern such as..
Get a manga you like and study the paterns, but do not, i reapeat, do not trace, copy if you like, but no tracey!!!!!!
Or get How to draw manga books at http://www.amazon.com or http://www.ebay.com

Madox is awesome, and you know what Lunatic? I don't appreciate your use of the N word, alright? Unlike you, some people have respect for the other races in life, and I'm sure people will back me up on this. You're an ass.
