View Full Version : The Zerg in WoW?

I have taken these screenshots myself. They haven't been changed at all.

I present to you five pictures of an alien race in World of Warcraft. They closely resemble the Zerg of Starcraft.

http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/zerginwow1.jpg
Picture 1: Large tentacles sticking out of the ground, much like the Zerg Sunken Colony.

http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/zerginwow2.jpg
Picture 2: Creep, the purple pseudo-dirt that all Zerg buildings must be created on.

http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/zerginwow3.jpg
Picture 3: A large tunnel, with two egg sacs just on the inside.

http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/zerginwow4.jpg
Picture 4: Aliens inside of weird goo-like casings hanging from the ceilings of the tunnel.

http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/zerginwow5.jpg
Picture 5: Small bugs that look very similar to the Zerg Drones, working on the inside of the tunnel.
--------------------------
Now, "how could this be possible?" you may say to yourself. It's simple, so follow along.

Assuming that everything exists in the same universe (hence the term universe, uni = one, like unicycle = one wheel) then we know that the world of Azeroth (from Warcraft) and the worlds of Char, Earth, and Aiur (from Starcraft) are basically within reach of one another.

The Zerg are known for their ability to multiply very quickly. It's quite possible that the Zerg fell to Azeroth in an attempt to colonize it. Judging from the fact that there are still egg sacs in the Hive featured in those pictures, it stands to reason that the Zerg recently came to Azeroth and they're now bolstering their forces for an attack.
---------------------------
Anyway, decipher from this what you will. I'm hungry. Discuss.

Very intersesting theory Rhys, this intrigues me. I must ponder if this is a cross-reference of one game to another. You are probably right.

Undead area possibly. They wouldn't put the Zerg into a Warcraft game (don't coun't those hydras and lings in WC3, they don't count).

Where is this area? I'm in the Beta but have been unable to find and and have found no one willing to show me. =\

I don't know about it being an Undead area though. The tunnels look a bit too much like mucous to be considered Blight. I haven't seen those cocoons before either. Whatever, I still want to check it out.

There are two places like this, they're both in Kalimdor.

That picture shows the two deserts where these things are. Unfortunately, because it's an Alliance-only push at the moment, I assume that you can't really get to this area yet, bloodtear. Fortunately, for us "alpha testers" (heh heh) we can get to wherever we need, and I was able to bring to light this weird.. thing.

Anyway, I'd like to bring this issue up on a real World of Warcraft message board, but I'll probably get banned for having Alpha stuff when I shouldn't. Eh.

Lol. Yeah, that explains a lot. Interesting stuff. Are they going to turn it into a high-level area or what? I'm loving this game but I'm not sure if I want to shell out $20 a month for it...

Wait a minute, you both got the Beta?

I hate you both.. why didn't I get it? I'm not sure if my mail is working correctly...

If that is true, then that world is doomed. No one on such a undeveloped world can possibly have a chance of beating them. Besides, The Zerg are just to damn cool. Live for the swarm!

or, of course, the whole thing could just be because of a lack of intuition with the creators, blizzard. they ARE the same company, of course....

Lack of intuition from? From Blizzard? The entire world is hand drawn.
That's gotta be like...blasphemy. o_O

That is most likely the undead... they compare most to the zerg, and i think those screen shots are when the undead hatch?

Bloodtear

That could be a valid point except Undead are dead. They don't grow from eggs.

Undead are necromanced, artificially created, summoned, or possessed. If they were born from eggs they'd be alive, not dead.

i want beta >< in away they look like zerg and in away they don't. but the purple dirt is what got me thinking that it is the zerg. it might just be a easter egg like in wc3. you never know bliz is crazy at times o.O also where does diablo fall in this universe? i can see how starcraft and wc fall but what about diablo? unless you count the super units in wc3 but i guess i just need to think about this more...

Well you can't forget that the undead were based off bugs, Look at some of their units, If anything it may be some undead territory. :shrugs:

Those could be Nerubian colonies, or just giant spiders in general. And the tentacle things might have something to do with the Faceless Ones from the Undead campaign.

Bloodtear
04-06-2004, 02:15 PM
Hey, I forgot all about that. Could be a possibility.

Ugh...I'd hate to meet a Faceless One at my level...

i think they are zergs but not the advance zergs in sc but a primative version of them before they evolved. these are probably ancient zergs in the past.

maybe the story of sc and wc are connected and WoW is the game linking those two.

Tamago

Or it could be an easter egg. Very definite possibility.

I AM RECHID, BUT I AM STRONG, I AM ZERG, AND WE ARE FOR THE SWARM

thats sweet if thats what it is.... my jaw dropped when i saw the hydralisks and lings in wcIII (best part of the game) so if they keep infesting the warcraft world..imagine the possibilities....

WCV (warcraft 5) Humans and orc allie with the undead...to defeat and even greater enemy...the zerg.

...wow...

Zerg for life biotches, i cant wait till wow comes out >.<, anyways if theres zerg and other races in this game it would be kinda cool, see a few goons here and there, some tanks, i think it would be awsome

...and if blizzard ever made a game Warcraft Meets Starcraft i would get it in a heart beat, i would love that, but would like to see some sequals to sc first =\

WoW is a pay to play?!? Damn those Blizzie holes...I have not had the time, or the money to read up on any gaming news...Lemme see when my last PCGamer was....*sulks over to bookcase*
September 2003 was my last gaming mag..that was a PCG on WC3 Frozen Throne...
*sad*
And...I seem to remember seeing an APhrozen on this site....
That name is familiar...anyone enlighten me on this issue of APhrozen, and Pay2play? for quick response...if my AIM isnt displayed..It's:
Krankhaftes Kind

If not, I will have to burn you...you might not like that...if you do...then damn you

::Edit::
Aphrozen is either from the Iconhell, or Diablo 2 circles..if my memory is right...which it usually isnt...

i dout the zerg came, because they're all advanced wit technology and warcraft is like in older times where not much techonoly like electricty and space travel is possible/discovered

Tamago

*Unless you're interested in Warcraft to the point that you want to listen to a lot of history in it, I suggest you stop reading now*

Space travel is possible in Warcraft. The Twisting Nether (basically a freeway between planets) was created a really long time ago to allow the Titans (the all-powerful beings that populate the planets in the universe with plants and animals, as well as destroy the demons that were found in said Twisting Nether) passage to each planet. Sargeras (a Titan who became evil) founded the Burning Legion (a group of demons) and began going from planet to planet undoing everything the Titans had done.

The Orcs used the Dark Portal that was linked from Draenor (the Orc and Ogre home planet) to Azeroth (the planet with all the Humans and Dwarves), which is how they began their invasion (begin Warcraft 1).

It's possible that there is a Dark Portal on the Zerg planet of Char. It could've been used to hop from one planet to another until they found their way to Azeroth, where they laid their seed and waited for the right time to strike.

Oh yeah, http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/RavenHillCemetary.jpg = undead
http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/blizzconquest/zerginwow2.jpg = not undead
