As many of you would know, Anne Rice's boks are considered classics now. I can see it is for very good reason.

Recently, I had a friend of mine tell me to read The Vampire Lestat, so she let me borrow it, and I did. I must say.. That book kicked total ass! I love everything about Lestat's character. The best part of that story would definately have to be the little time between when he was made, and when he met Armand with Gabrielle.

OK.. well anyways.. back to her Vampire Chronicles. I then started reading Interview with the Vampire, then shortly watched that sexy movie. Heh.. Louis' character... oh me goodness. He's too depressing. His thoughts are so ah. At the present, I'm reading Queen of the Damned, and I went and bought Tale of the Body Thief as well. :D I really want to read The Vampire Armand, and Blood and Gold

OK.. so I was rambling.. Who else enjoys her books?

I do, even though the movies are nothing like the books Interview with a Vampire definitely ranks in my top movies. I've read nearly every book she's put out and have even gone through the trouble of grabbing the Vampire Chronicles even though I already owned the books separately. Most of her work is pretty good if you're into Vampires. You might want to consider checking out books done by White Wolf.

Heh, I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicle books. So far, I've read Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and I just finished reading Queen of the Damned last night (and I loved the ending to it ^^). And when I was done with Queen of the Damned I picked up the next book, Tale of the Body Thief, and started reading away.

As much as I love Anne Rice's books, it's frustrates me that she doesn't have any of the characters actually do stuff with each other. Chud knows what I mean. Oh there's so many characters and so many pairings I could put them in. Lestat/Louis would have to be my favorite pairing ^^

Heh. Wait till The Vampire Armand and Blood and Gold. I know for a fact The Vampire Armand has teh stuff in it. A friend of mine had let me read some. I was told he makes out with Marius, has sex with an englishman, and Bianca or whomever she is ties him down to de bed. That's what I have been told, and what I read was from the Bianca scene. She had told me of these things when she was about half way finished with the book.

Now Blood and Gold I don't know much about teh stuff in that. This is only what I've really been told though.

...err...you'll probably be dissapointed with Blood and Gold in that sense...at least after expecting more from reading Armand.

anyhow....I love the Vampire Chronicles. I've read Interview, TVL, QotD, Body Theif, Memnoch, Blood and Gold, and I'm not sure if Merrick is part of the chronicles or not. I still need to read Armand, Blackwood Farm, and Blood Canticle.

Although after recently having finished Blood and Gold I was still interested in Marius and Pandora, so I took a break from the chronicles and started reading Pandora (The New Tales of the Vampires).

...I suppose the only two Anne Rice books dealing with vamps that I still don't own are Armand and Vittorio the Vampire.

It's funny, I hated Louis in Interview, but seeing him from a different perspective in all the other books has made him one of my favorite characters.

is there enoguhb action so it doesnt get boring

regarding that....The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned are easily the best books. A whole lot of Anne Rice fans think the series isn't worth a damn after Body Theif. The pace of the books slows down signifigantly...and they really aren't for everybody. However, if you're interested in vampire mythology, you should probably read them anyway. It's just a really interesting take on things, tied in with egyptian mythology.

Inspire you, eh? Well, agreeing with Shaolin-Emu, I have a feeling Lestat is going to be my favorite out of the entire thing. If you want action.. well then.. uh.. yeah. Yes these books have action in them, but they're more psychological to me. The way everything is described, when it comes to drinking of blood, or the Dark Gift, it's all so in depth. In Interview with the Vampire, you'll have to listen to Louis going on and on and on.. and that's one reason why I didn't like that book so much. I also didn't like it because I'm totally in love with Lestat's character. His characteristics are great.

He may seem conceited(which he really isn't), but Lestat is always allowed to be so! :D

"I can't help being gorgeous fiend. It's just the card I drew. The bastard monster who made me what I am picked me on account of my good looks." - Lestat. Gotta love him!

"And I'm the same devil I always was, the young man who would have center stage, where you can see me best, and maybe love me." - Lestat

...err...you'll probably be dissapointed with Blood and Gold in that sense...at least after expecting more from reading Armand.

Haha. That's kind of funny. In that sense, yet I may be disappointed, but overall, I hear Blood and Gold is a very very GOOD book.

Alrighty, well, _TheNoLifeKing_, I don't know how I'm supposed to inspire you, but these books are teh shiot! You also said you enjoy reading, so if that's the case, then you'd most likely enjoy these books.

alright then....Ch*d...Bishy....It's safe to assume that you'll love Blackwood Farm.....however I was left quite disturbed when I was finished with it, if that's any clue

anyhow, that book f*cking ruled. Essentially it's a ghost story more than a story of vampires...I myself might go so far as to say its the same calibur of TVL or QotD

....now then...on to Blood Canticle

Blackwood farm eh? I will most definately be reading that.

I'm currently reading Memnoch the Devil and I love it! The Memnoch's story is completely enthralling. I'm almost done with book. I'm looking forward to The Vampire Armand ^^

i've only heard of these books. they sound good. exactly which and how many books make up the Vampire Chronicles series? is there a certain order to read them in or is it confusing and debatable like the full LotR series...at the very least, tell me what to read first.

Um... Yes, there is an order. If you're going to start reading any, read either Interview with the Vampire first, or The Vampire Lestat. Interview with the Vampire is what you're supposed to read first, but I read The Vampire Lestat first, then read Interview after that.

A list of teh Vampire Chronicles is as follows:

Interview with the Vampire
The Vampire Lestat
Queen of the Damned
The Tale of the Body Thief
Memnoch the Devil
The Vampire Armand
Merrick
Blood and Gold
Blackwood Farm
Blood Canticle

There is also Pandora, and Vittorio, but those are part of the New Tales of the Vampires, and I think only Pandora follows with The Vampire Chronicles.
