A FF7 Battle Arena disscusion

Over the last two weeks I have been re-playing FF7. I have been working at doing as much as I can and getting the items/limits/chars/materia that I missed the first few times I played through it. But now to my actual question. What do you think is the best materia/equipment for Cloud in the battle arena? I have been trying to get Omnislash and W-Summon since last night, but after about 5 tries(by tries I mean going into the BA with 100 GP and fighting ten bouts) the best I did was 25000 something BP. So does anyone have any suggestions. Advice on beating certain creatures would be of help too. Here's what I'm currently using.

Cloud- level 58
Equipment-Ultima Weapon, Escort Guard, Ribbon
Materia-Double Cut, Counter Attack, Speed Plus, Luck Plus, Enemy Skill(with Big Guard), mastered Restore linked with all, mastered Fire linked with all, mastered Lightining linked with all, and 3 HP Plus

Note: I have already checked many walkthoughs and FAQs and saying things along the lines of "I dont know, whatever you want" "FF7 rules/sucks" or "try FAQs.com" is not needed.

ummm i;d say wit quadra magic, and use that, and mime with KoTr, and a double cut, and counter, i didn't bother reading ur stats so sry if i posted what u already have, and other then that u shouldn't have any problem, if i remember the item u want is 60,000 bp? well thats a pain in the ass i remember doing that, but that wa sliek 3 years ago

hmmm, i usually just kinda put everything on one bet and took the double cut materia, and then like 7 counter attack materias. If you get hit you kill whatever did it, and during your turn you'll kill whatever challenges you. Then you don't haveta worry about so many materias gettin cancelled and leaving you helpless and what not. If you lose the independant materia, your basically screwed and you won't make it that time, but it should be pretty rare...

Link Counter Magic with your highest level Meteor or Ultima, then load up with every Counter Materia you have (each counter materia you have will allow you to attack; ex. if you are attacked once and have 3 counters equpped, you will counter 3 times), and Deathblow so you have a chance to do double damage with one of your counters. Have a few HP plusses so he'll last. This is one of the nastiest combos in the game.

If you get "All Materia Break" from the slots, get it again and again to significantly boost your BP (Each one gives you 10,000). When you've accumulated enough, remember that you can just finish your current battle and quit with the points you have.

listen to this guy, tamago knows what he talkin' about. just load cloud down with counter attack materias. make sure you have close to 9999 HP and avoid, at all costs, using magic like fire or bolt. heal with x-potions, not cure. equip cloud with sprint shoes so he is always in haste. put cloud in fury (with a hyper) so his limit gauge builds faster. okie dokie, i got omnislash on disc 1 so i didn't have to worry about this stuff later on... that's right, you heard me... DISC 1.

Just make sure you get W-Item from Midgar before the Proud Clod fight and then go to the Battle Arena after duping Elixirs and Megalixirs to get 99 of each and hope you don't get the Seal Item Command status from the slots. Other than that just have Cloud's most powerful weapon on and you should be good. A few of your stronger summons probably wouldn't hurt either. And make SURE you have something like Ribbon on to prevent death/petrification otherwise you'll be instafùcked if you fight something with one of those abilities.

No Curative materia whatso-ever. use x-potions (but if you must, bring 1 mastered)

Enough HP+ to get 9999hp

Like... 1 or 2 mastered Speed Plus

Slash-all Materia (or 4x Cut if you're doing special Battles)

You don't really need KOTR, but as a last resort, bring it.

Added-Effect + Mastered Contain Materia

The rest is counter attack materia

the BEST summon combo would be quadra-magic + bahamut zero and W-summon. that way it'll be summoned 8 TIMES for whup-a$$ action! ^_^..........................but seriously what you need to do is level up those double exp materia and fight those little orange balls called movers in the north crater (they'll be located in the room with the roots growing all everywhere with the green water) movers will you the best amount of exp with an appreciative amount of AP if you have cloud's apocalysp or cid's scimitar for the triple AP ability. but magic pots will give you the most AP in the entire game. just make sure you have enough elixers to give them. and uh one last thing......you do know about the infinite items trick right?

personaly what i use is the enemyskill materia. along with 4-cut. If you are doin all this right before you go for the final fight, fill your limet break, get mime ready, cast the enemy skill Big Gaurd, then use dragon force, lastly fill up any missing HP with Angle whisper, then cut loose on your limet break, aftert you do that keep using mime. It's a sure fire winner.

But if not, what you need is to get off the battle square and on the choochabo race track. Start whoopen it up and trade all your items (excluding those rare items) for the points. After a day or two you'll have around 7 thousand points like i do. I'll admit i had to much free time that weekend. But after this you'll have more than enough to whoop it up your own way and still get the w-summon and omnislash.

looks like u got the equipment, but not luck, u no those slots? if u plan it just right, u won't b affected by nething, or u recover

I used the Ribbion for status effects in the battle area. It really helps in the battle area and when you fight Emerald and Diamond Weapon...

equip added affect- contain onto your weapon. it paralyzes things pretty often.

make sure to get 4x cut. then, get w-item, and get 99 megalixers, then uneqip cure stuff, then make sure you have lots of all, and haste and barrier

I'm not really sure here but did any one like my way of doin it? It's the easyest way i've seen yet, granted it takes time. As all great RPGs do. Most of my hints/tips are for the hard core FF fan. So if you didn't like it, hush. If you did, tell me in a PM or just hush anyway.
