Debug mode on any video game means thats the console of commands the creators of the game use to make sure everything works right. In the debug mode, you can have infinite life/ammo/instantly kill yourself, kill all enemies, etc.

The debugging mode in the game is only a "lite" version of a real code debugger. They have debuggers for almost anything, such as games, they have two monitors one running a live session of the game, with a controller sitting between the CPU and motherboard itself to pause everything to make adjustments. Its alot more complicated then some cool stuff for the game. Its pretty techincal from what I've herd from I guy I know who uses debuggers on controlers. Here's an example of what a light scale debugger would really look like

A Debug mode is basically to test everything in the game. It's there so developers don't have to play through the game for six hours to get to one point so they can check one tiny thing. Debug modes are so much fun because there's a lot of stuff you can mess around with.

yeah.. debug modes are fun, but just wondering why would you want to use gameshark, games are more fun to play when you can beat them without cheats
