For the millionth time you've talked about "Halo is great" and given no examples of why. How does it go beyond the norm? How does it redefine the FPS genre? And who is it considered the best FPS of the century by? (besides you I mean) Find me some people who actually believe this horrible (as in worse than any pokemon game kind of horrible) excuse for a game to be THE SINGLE best FPS ever. I would love to see anyone intelligent and over the age of 14 who agrees with you. Because there's no such thing as an intelligent person over 14 who thinks that there has never been another FPS to contribute as much to the genre as Halo. Hell, ANY FPS you can name (besides Halo, although I'd be amazed if there were more than 5 or 6 of you could name any others) has probably contributed more things of importance to the genre than Halo has.

How do story mechanics (weak story mechanics to be precise) make a game great? Good story alone won't do it. And besides I've been playing games with better plot and deeper story than Halo since you were still shittin' your Pampers, lil kid. And since I'm such a great guy and I always give examples, here's one now: Castlevania. Even the worst Castlevania games (like the N64 ones) could still whup the Hell out of Halo's story and plot. You know why? Because they are based on mythology and mythological creatures, plus even the oldest CV games have some of the most incredible gameplay I've ever seen (and most of them were pretty detailed for their time). How about this one? You=idiot. Sounds a little more reasonable to me. Goddamn lil kids who think Halo's the shit cuz a few people older than them like it. Just shut the Hell up already, just because someone says Halo's a great game doesn't mean it is, and there's only been TWO, that's right count 'em, TWO people, total, here at Dragid who have made even REASONABLY valid arguments as to why Halo is a good game, and when a genre is usually almost almost entirely the same, regardless of the game (like the FPS genre, despite how addictive it may be), a game in that genre needs to introduce something new and groundbreaking to be a GREAT game, and Halo just didn't do that. Halo introduced teaching people to be lemmings and follow the decisions of a few. Wait, no, it didn't even introduce that. Counter-Strike did. Hell, even riding in vehicles isn't something new, CS even did it before Halo with the Jeepathon maps (sure they were player-made, but so was CS). And the storyline in Halo is nothing special. Oh, boy, we're fighting aliens, big fúckin' deal, huh? Play Aliens vs. Predator 2 (and the xpac for it) if you want alien fightin' goodness as an FPS. Cuz Predators OWN Master Chief's bitchtacular pansy ass. Hell even the marines in AvP2 could own Master Chief, and they're the least cool race in AvP2.

As for most games AI like the First Metal Gear Solid for playstation. The AI could of been better alot better. but that's besides the point here. In Halo the Marines can pick up Enemy weapons. they can think for themselfs unlick some of the other games I played where you had to Babysit your Companions. If you try to kill too many of your Marine friends thwy think your a tratior and trough gernades at you and shoot the Hell out of you.


Also the reason Halo is liked by ever one is that. It fulfills The American Dream.

Goddammit my last post on where I refuted all this crap got deleted. You probably reported it as a bad post, or maybe that jackass wrath did. But oh, well, it'll only take about 5 minutes to type this entire goddamn thing out again, adding on a few choice words for wrath. Anyways, if I could change one thing about Halo to make it good what would I do? Can't answer ya there cuz it needs more than one change to be good. First off it needs to introduce something new, because without introducing something new any FPS will be just another in a long line of the same shit, then it needs to get a little more creative, especially in the name department (I mean seriously, what kinda name is Master Chief? Why don't they just name hit Master Bate? Might as well, cuz the guy's a jerkoff).
Anyways, onto your "points" on why Halo is a good game.
1. Voice acting does nothing for a game, other than add a SLIGHT amount of humor maybe. And there have been games with better voice acting/dialogue than Halo, like Duke Nuken 3D, and I'm not gonna go into detail on that one cuz that's probably why my last post got deleted.
2. Story doesn't make the game, and like I've said before, I've been playing games with deeper/more interesting story since you were but a wee lad.
3. How can you talk about realism and grenades making bodies fly around (without exploding) in the same area of discussion? Are you an idiot or something? <--- Nevermind, don't answer that. If you want realistic play Unreal games where the bodies REALISTICALLY explode when you throw (or fire) explosives at them.
4. Unreal games also have better AI than Halo. On higher difficult settings the bots are very unpredictable and very unkillable, even for people who are actually GOOD at playing FPS, which I doubt any of you Halo bitches are.

4. Multiplayer? Oh, you mean that thing that Halo has a shitty version of? You realize that Halo's multiplayer is just a cheap cop of Unreal Tournament/Quake Arena don't you? Unreal Tournament owns Halo and from everything I've seen of Quake Arena it's an amazing game as well. Either would beat the hell out of Halo for multiplayer. And you can play with 16 people on Unreal Tourney too so that's nothing new either. And split screen ISN'T fun, you jackass. Unless you're playing on a big screen TV then my computer monitor gives me a lot better view than your shitty little split screen on TV. Plus my computer monitor generally has better games going on it than any TV with an XBox hooked up to it.
5. Halo's graphics are shit on a stick. They're about the equivalent of the FIRST Unreal Tournament which came out on PC like 3 years before Halo. Too bad for you Halo isn't as good a game as the first Unreal Tourney, or UT2k3 for that matter. And graphics don't make the game, gameplay does. I would rather be playing a game with good gameplay on NES with its ghetto 8-bit graphics processor than some game with incredible graphics and shitty gameplay on anything else. Hell Halo probably couldn't even stand up to the first Unreal (the single player one that came out like 6 years ago).

Mainly because it's one of the better games on the x-box, my pc's grpahics card is shit so I can't play the excellent pc FPS's, and everyone has it. The game isn't new or inventive really, it was just really one of the few good console FPs's out there. It's a good game or a little above average, nothing else.

The flood, cloned characters that act pretty much all the same, without a brain.
Cortana, an annoying bitchy info-side kick that is constantly annoying you, sounds like that fairy in Ocarina Of Time.
Halo's a ring, so what you can't totally go around the ring, you woulden't be able to tell it was a ring if you didn't see the cut scenes.
Guilty Spark and his sentinels A pompous annoying character that's an ally with you then turns on you? How many games have I seen this in, more then I care to name. The sentinels, his lackies who's sole purpose is to make your game experience an annoying hell.
The Maw God damn, this level isn't that original. I'll describe it to you. A bunch of enemies from either side are tearing you apart while you have to unlock something. I don't need to say anything more to prove my point.

Halo multiplayer isn't new, it's been on the PC for so long. Except you can if you want to, link togther 4 x-boxes with cramped screens, 8 x-boxes with split screen. That's about how i feel about it. I'm not a big fan of FPS's myself, but I can say that Halo is one of the better ones i've played. But still, there's nothing particularly spectacular about it.

Thank you agreeing that it is nothing truly special. And about your GPU being shitty, I got my eGeForce4 MX 440 SE for $100 at Office Depot and there's a $30 mail-in rebate. And it's Dual VGA 64 MB DDR and it uses an AGP 2.0 slot. :) Quite the buy for $100 IMHO. And with it UT2k3 runs insanely well on my comp. That's about how i feel about it. I'm not a big fan of FPS's myself, but I can say that Halo is one of the better ones i've played. But still, there's nothing particularly spectacular about it.

Honestly, I think you all need to leave Slipknot the hell alone. If he wants to think that Halo is a horrible game, let him think that. You don't need to jump all over him for stating his opinion. With that said, I officially declare this flame fest over.

And I posted about the delay. In my first post here. I said there's no point in waiting for Halo 2 (that right there is talking about the delay) when sequels to shitty games never do better than the original. And then one of you assnoses decided you wanted to piss me off by trying to flame me cuz I see poor qualities in poor games. So I start pointing all the flaws in your reasons why Halo is "such a great game" (and others helped point out flaws that you call "good traits", others like CaptainCommunist. Thanks, Cap'nCommy). Then you guys try to flame me so I flame back cuz it's fun. Like I've said more times than I can remember, idiots are amusing. Before I refute your idiocy let me start by saying I do enjoy playing halo. Mainly because it's one of the better games on the x-box, my pc's grpahics card is shit so I can't play the excellent pc FPS's, and everyone has it. The game isn't new or inventive really, it was just really one of the few good console FPs's out there. It's a good game or a little above average, nothing else.

I'm going to tear apart the list of unique things in halo right about now
The flood, cloned characters that act pretty much all the same, without a brain.
Cortana, an annoying bitchy info-side kick that is constantly annoying you, sounds like that fairy in Ocarina Of Time.
Halo's a ring, so what you can't totally go around the ring, you woulden't be able to tell it was a ring if you didn't see the cut scenes.
Guilty Spark and his sentinels A pompous annoying character that's an ally with you then turns on you? How many games have I seen this in, more then I care to name. The sentinels, his lackies who's sole purpose is to make your game experience an annoying hell.
The Maw God damn, this level isn't that original. I'll describe it to you. A bunch of enemies from either side are tearing you apart while you have to unlock something. I don't need to say anything more to prove my point.

Halo multiplayer isn't new, it's been on the PC for so long. Except you can if you want to, link togther 4 x-boxes with cramped screens, 8 x-boxes with split screen. I don't know 16 people with x-boxes so you can't do that. The thing is, Halo was simply the first console game to allow you to do this. Nothing really huge...

I like Halo, but if your going to defend it badly, don't bother. I don't think it is as bad as Slipknot says, but it really isn't that inventive.

He didn't flat out say they're not original because he probably assumed that intelligent people would draw 1 of 2 conclusions from what he said: 1. each of those things WAS unoriginal, like you say he didn't point out, or 2. it wasn't good enough to constitute a redefinition of the genre, thus making it worthless/subpar. And who gives a damn about the Warthog in the Maw? You want originality? What about the lightning rifle in Unreal Tournament 2003? It's a sniper rifle that fires lightning bolts. While it may be slow firing it's still cool. What about the Redeemer in both UT games? It's a HUGE gun that fires a miniature thermonuclear device (that's a nuke for you morons out there). What about the biorifle in both UT games? It's a small weapon that shoots green jizz on your opponent. What about the Plasma Rifle/Link Gun? It's primary fire is a steady volley of plasma bolts, its secondary is a plasma cutting beam. What about the translocator? It's a reusable personal teleporting device. What about the Duster in Unreal II? It's an assault rifle that fires depleted uranium shards. How pimp is that? And that's just the weapons. What about the pimptacular races that the Unreal series introduced? Like the Skaarj, god those things are so badass. What about the friggin' Unreal ENGINE that a shitload of other FPS out there are based around? What about the multiplayer functions that Unreal Tourney and Quake Arena pretty much introduced to the world? What about the thrill of gunning down nazis in the first Wolfenstein? What about the choice of different races, each specialized with its own tools and techniques in the Aliens vs. Predator series? What about the team-based counterterrorism action of Rainbow Six? You see there's FPS out there with better qualities (that they introduced as well) than Halo. This isn't even everything that's great about these games, just the things I could think of in five minutes or so.

Anyways, Halo sucks. Oh, it was delayed, big goddamn deal, I've been waiting for Onimusha 3 for the past 2 years so shut the hell up. Not to mention Onimusha 3 is going to be a lot more well done than Halo 2, plus the fact it will be far more original than that half-rate, flea market knock-off we've grown to know and hate as Halo.
