Of all sports EVERYWHERE who do you think is the most memorable athelete of all time? :D

Personally id go with Michael Jordan. Why? because i dont know of a single person who doesnt know who he is. And even if he has lost his sparkle now its not like he is bad he just isnt as good as he used to be :)

I agree with Jordan. There probably isn't a person, even if they're not a sportsfan, that hasn't heard of him. Same with Mike Tyson, Wayne Gretzky, Muhammed Ali, and Babe Ruth.

I agree w/ Tamago + hank arron, ted williams, jackie robinson, larry bird, magic johnson, um, a few others i forgot. ^_^ alot of ppl have also heard of Jeff Gordon as well, but does that make him memorable...hmm...

but i think Micheal Jordan

he's one of the best basketball players

he's also did golf and baseball (i think i forgot lol)

his shoes are one of the most popular ones out there right now (i just wasted my time going to 5 stores looking for his newest shoes that came out YESTERDAY and it was sold out EVERYWHERE)

I agree. Ali was an awsome contender. Not only did he cause controversy, he changed the sport forever in the process. If it wasnt for him, I doubt we'd see Mike Tyson in the ring :lol:

I agree with you SL, when you say the most memorable athlete, Michael Jordan was the first person that popped into my head, and as you said there probably isn't a single person who doesn't know who he is -.- Yeah, so I'd have to say Michael Jordan as well.

Ted Williams...finished last season with .402 AVG, and hell...his freakin wantd to freeze him...and my uncle called from Africa and told me he saw on the news that they were gonna freeze...in AFRICA if they know of Ted Willliams...thats memorable...

Yeah, Mike Jordan basically is the most memorable athelete. Even though Chamberlain and Bird were up there with him in skill, Jordan still just takes the cake. I agree fully on that. But I also want to include some others who you guys forgot to mention.

I know, I know, the Track & Field section is not exactly the biggest part of American life, and I say American because when I visited France, London, and Italy, T&F was just one of the bigger sports instead of Bball and Amer. Football.

But how can you guys not mention Carl Lewis (World Olympian with a Long Jump of 29.xx feet... i forget the inches, but he jumped pretty damn far)? How about Maurice Greene (second fastest man in the world. 100m in 9.79 seconds)? Maybe even Tim Montgomery (fastest man in the world. 100m in 9.78 seconds)?

They may not be some of the more memorable atheletes, but they are always worth mentioning. So keep them in mind people, they accomplish things just as great as Baseball, Basketball, and Football players and any other sport out there.

All Time most memorable is babe ruth, mj sure is more of a prime guy,but in the 80's,he's nothing compared to babe ruth,babe ruth is america's idol,hes the greatest baseball player that ever played, no one compares to babe ruth with an exception of barry bonds, but babe ruth had no drug medications(i dont think)(steroids), jordan was a great athlete,but compared to ruth, hes nobody, jordan was a great player before he came back as a wizard,but now,not even jordan can be old age, hes into motorcycles now... him a great athlete? psh... a great athlete should at least beat age, and would at least make a fast break slam dunk at the all-star game, he didn't even deserve it, but jordan in the 96 run was great, no doubt,but look at him now.... hes horrible..
