i need somebody who plays counter stirke to look

i just bought half life: counter strike, and i'm tryng to play online but it says no one is around, cause it says there are 8869 servers and 0 players on, i have it doing that update thing where it gets the info on the servers, did i do the right tihng, and when i get online, does anyone wanna play with me and teach me how to play ?


EDITT::::::::::; i just ogt it to work online but it told me my excutable (sp?) is out of date and that i need to get a patch, can someone tell me how to get this patch, caus eit won;t do it automatically like warcraft and thosen games

Yeah first off whenever you buy a new PC game thats been out for more then a month or two is to look for game updates or patches. For cs go to www.counter-strike.net/retail_upgrade.html and download the CS 1.5 Full Retail update. Remember thats the CS1.5 Full Retail update. Or you can get steam for CS. Look here at http://www.fileplanet.com/files/130000/130271.shtml for the 1.6 update. Its fileplanets to so you'll need a username. I know this sounds like alot but take it one at a time. You need to update to 1.5 first then 1.6 which is ran in a sepearate program called Steam.

you should just play on STEAM on 1.6 for Counter-strike. Do people still play on 1.5?

ugh... last year i was a CS freak and me and my friend sold burned CS cds at skool.. oh how fun that was, anyways i cant help you with the problem but i can say that u better watch out for fruity hackers and try to find a good private server

I'm reviving this because i didnt want to waste a whole thread for something that could be fixed in one or two replys.


So..my story..i went to fileplanet, used my gamespy ID..and me, having no idea what i was doing, was looking to download counter strike...FOUR HOURS..i waited..Hoping that this was the actual game, it finished, i went to instal it..................i downloaded the steam thing..now i join steam, look up servers and all..yet i can't play..anyone know of a site where i can download counter strike for free? >_>
