nintendo going downhill

anyone other than me think the nintendo games are ggeting a little worse as newer ones come out
when i 1st played super mario 64 i was suprised as how fun it was (same thing with paper mario) but when super mario sunshine came out i was kinda disapointed the water pack thing kinda toke away some of fun the same thing with paper mario and super mario and luigi
anyone think nintendo games are geting worse slowly?

Yeah, unfortunately Nintendo is losing the current Console War, just like the previous two Console Wars (Contrary to popular belief, more Sega Genesis consoles were sold than Super Nintendo ones. Weird.) Nintendo is going to go the way of Sega, though, unless they really work hard on the Gamecube.

First, I think they should make a hell of a lot more online-compatible games. XBox and PS2 are tearing up the online market though, so it might be difficult for Nintendo to get a foothold.

Secondly, what the hell is up with the tiny disks? Nintendo tries too hard to be different, and it's ruining them. If they had used the same type of normal-sized disks that XBox and PS2 use, they could have also added DVD-capability. With the Gamecube's small size, however, a normal-sized DVD wouldn't even fit inside the tiny-ass GCN.

I also think that Nintendo needs to stop relying on their Gamecube/GBA link-up thing. I had planned on buying Crystal Chronicles, but when I realized that in order to play multiplayer, everyone I was going to play with needed their own GBA, I decided against buying it altogether.

If the PSP comes out and tears up the Game Boy Advance like Sony has said it will, I think we'll be seeing the end of Nintendo being a major competitor in the game market. They'll just end up like Sega, and they'll just start making games for other systems.

Well, maybe GC can make a comeback in 04. I mean, it ended 03 pretty well with great games like Mario Kart Double Dash, Viewtiful Joe, and FZero GX. And with potential hits like Crystal Chronicles, Sonic Heroes, MGS3: Twin Snakes, and Pokemon Coloseum coming out in just the first quarter of 04, who knows what the rest of the new year will bring?

Less pick-up games, like just think of your favorite SNES or NES game. If it's not an RPG, it was most likely easy to pick up, beat a level, it might save, then you could come back later. Today we have 3 hour levels with so much involvement and complication, I just don't have the time for all this crap. Mario Sunshine, going back to someone else's comment, I wanted to just get that first level over with but it had too much to do and it just got repetitive walking around a dumb plum village or whatever it was. Remember Super Mario World? AWESOME GAME even today. New, original levels, every level. No upgrades to buy, no ammo to search for. Kill everything in your way in order to kill some big guy. Sorry, I'm rambling again, I thought man this'll be the one topic where I don't ramble, sorry.

i have 1080 Avalanche, and its one of my favorite games ever. oh well, maybe it just helps that i love board-riding sports, like surfing, skimboarding (as you can see clearly) :D, and even though ive never tried it, surfboarding. i love the feel of the wind rush against my face, and i can just imagine in the game. plus, there is PLENTY of stuff to do in 1080. each different mode is an entire game in itself. :cheers:

but i do think nintendo is going downhill in one way. has anyone else noticed that instead of making new games they just keep releasing "new" games with just lots of old games in them? ;)

Personally i dont see why. If anything play station HAS to be slowly being left in the dust. If any game goes multiplatform ps2 always get the shit version of it mainly because it cant support as well as the others. Examples being most tony hawk games, time splitters and others. Xbox is probably only known for only its Halo (though i see recently now that at least its trying to be good with games like metal arms: glitch in the system and DDR ultramix) Hell i dont even know why nintendo gets slack

Its basically the buyers market. I play gcn more than other systems because quiet frankly its harder. The only problem with nintendo is that it has a firm buyers market on anything copyrighted (zelda, starfox, mario and others) and they try to rely on those games alone and since they are sequals as always people use the the same from the last game making the game seem easier. ps2 if just AS bad as nintendo if not worse because from what ive seen i havent heard one arguement about how ps2 is better than any other consol without mentioning the fact that it has FF and since its being ported to nintendo anyways its losing that "specialness" factor. Xbox i think right now has one of the strongest markets simply becuase it only has 1 good trademark and that game sequal is coming out none to soon from now. (if it hit in times of the holidays all the other systems would cease to exsist thankfull not the case =]) but all its other games are crap like the "drought" games used when people lack ideas (n64 last few years were basically drought games for anyone who doesnt uinderstand)

Plus there is the stupid fact the nintendo is "kiddy" I dont see how having a more mature game still affects the play... Veiwtifull joe has probably got to be the most 7 year old looking thing EVER but infact i heard it was not only highly playable but infact annoyingly hard.

And lets face it nintendo lacks the shine it had once before mearly becuase with sega vs nintendo you could have 50% cool rate... with ps2 vs xbox vs nintendo you go 33% and these are just assuming everything is equal.

Anyways i think in terms of profits the games that make the most money ARENT the ones that they spend years making... In fact ill use one of the most common examples. Ocarina of time. One of the best games EVER =P yet the profit was seeming low. Now space station silicon vally... has anyone even heard of it? I bet not, but im sure it made in ratio 4 or more times more money thank OoT. Why? because the producing took almost no time and they sold it at a low price which parents would pick up for sales and ended up with high profits. This is one reason why play station has survived this long. It has about 7 crap games made every two weeks and people, buy them simply because they cost less and thy make a assload of money. Gamecube i dont think has ever done that with a game. Xbox does it but not on a major level where they make a semi decent game pretty often and get pay outs easly.

GC and PS2 are slowly going downhill in games. Notice how some of the good PS2 games are going to XBOX like GTA:VC and GTA3. There's other titles that are being transfered from the PS2 to the XBOX.

You're kidding, right? If not, that's pretty racist of you, but whatever. Also, Sony isn't really losing. Last time I checked, the XBOX didn't really dominate the PS2 over. There is still pretty equal followings for the two of them.

Anyways, yes, Nintendo lost last year in the console wars to Sony and Microsoft.

REASONS:
1. No major online games worth playing
2. Not enough ground-breaking or other "MUST HAVE" games released to compete with Sony and Microsoft
3. A lot of effort was spent on the GBA that should have been spent on the GC.
4. Not enough "MUST HAVE" games EXCLUSIVE to the GC.

Well, there's always this year for Nintendo. Its possible that they might go the way of Sega, but we'll see what happens. Now that Sega and Nintendo are working together on a lot of games, there is a possibilty that Nintendo may create a comeback this year if they play their cards right and deal the with previous issues they had last year.

i'm with shenlong, that's kind've racist. that's like 100 years ago, when japan and USA didn't like each other, now Japan is practically the 3rd leading economy out there (i think), and we're all buddy buddy. we bombed japan to, with the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. that's VERY racist of you if you ask me, i mean we help each other out, japan has technology, and america trades with japan. well i used to like nintendo back in the n64 days. they had much more interesting games back then. and if u ask me there isnt really much of an improvement in the graphics. ok well maybe a little but not too much. its definately going downhill. the mario party games just keep getting worse. mario party two has gotta be the best game on N64 besides Oot and MM. and then they made mario party 3 which wasnt that great anymore. from waht ive head 4 and 5 REALLY suck. but i dont know, maybe they will make a comeback...but i doubt it. i think i should sell my gamecube on ebay or something cuz im in doubt.

false. I personally think that with all of the franchises they hold that they could make a comeback. I mean Viewtiful Joe was an amazing game! and if they should talk Capcom into making more exclusive games they can stay afloat. As for the franchises, if they made a revised, longer version of StarFox with just the planes and tank and submarine, it would rock. The new approach of making you Fox McCloud in a platform was horrible. Make it planes. And Mario Kart, Nintendo has good ideas that come every so often. Yoshi's Story for N64 was helcka cool and came right out of left field itself. I put my faith in Nintendo
