no offline game, 12.95 a month, plus a dollar for each extra charector, and another dollar for tetra master. you need a fairly good computer, i posted the minimums in the comp games section

To answer all those questions in one, I did the math once, and the AVERGE player pays $186.73 per month

im sry but i thouhgt FF11 was one of theb best games ever.. i totally change my mind FF11 is one .if not the worst online game ever. like seriously ther is no point in that game.. the noly things you have to do in that game is either to lvl up..fight monsters..or go on quest with people its stupid...runescapes better thats how sad it is ..

If you knew anything about MMORPGs you would know that they have no true "ending" or purpose. You continually play for whatever satisfaction the games can give you. If power leveling is your thing, it's got that. If doing in-game quests is you thing, it's got that. If you just wanna chill with your firends and screw around you can do that too. And Square-Enix recently posted a bulletin in the PlayOnline news that they're working on a conquest related PvP function for it, so you can fight other players over territory soon.
I have it, I have it registered, but it won't run on my comp cuz apparently you have to have either a GeForce or ATI Radeon video card, you can't have some other brand that's equally good. So the assholes at Square-Enix make everything work up until you register, then the game may or may not work for you. I thought my comp met all the reqs for it since everything was working at first, but then when I finally DL all updates and get my stuff registered when I try to play it tells me I failed to connect to the FFXI server cuz my comp doesn't meet the requirements. So when I check the requirements, everything in my comp is up to the reqs, except my GPU isn't GeForce or Radeon. They could have at least said in the reqs that it HAS to be GeForce or Radeon. It just says minimum reqs are any GeForce GPU with 32 MB or Radeon 9000 or better. It doesn't say that it has to be a Radeon or GeForce. I WILL destroy the board members of the Enix half of Square-Enix and I will devour their souls. They made Squaresoft gay...

If you like to kill bunny rabbits or butterflies for 12 hours and have to pay for it and you consider this "fun", then yeah, go ahead and buy it.
RPG's are only good if...
a) They are hard in a sense that if you can't kill a boss because you are at a low level, not hard like you have to spend 10 hours looking for a stupid item or spend 80% of the game doing mini-quests.
b) They have puzzles. Nothing breaks up a good old fashion RPG trend of: walk around, get into a random battle, kill anything that moves, repeat. I like my games to challenge my mind every once in a while.
c) That they don't have 60 - 80% of the game being cutscenes. It is a bad thing when a rpg goes into a cut-scene and you can get up, make a sandwhich, eat it, goto the bathroom, do some chores, come back, and it is still playing the cut-scene.
d) Lastly, when the RPG doesn't have a bunch of whiny kids in it. I can listen to my friends whine about FFXI all day, I don't need that in my RPG's.

Yeah, but for the most part FFXI isn't going to have whiny kids what with Square-Enix threatening to ban accounts found to be owned or used by anyone under 13. They don't want ppl under the suggested age for the game's rating (Teen) and they don't want stupid whiny little kids like other onine games (read: Diablo II, unfortunately) seem to be plagued by.

And on a side note, I got my GeForce4 AGP 64MB GPU today, so as soon as I can get it in my comp (probly tomorrow) I'll be happy again =) YAY!

FF XI is awesome. I have it for PC and i beleive if your gonna play it dont waste ur time on the PS2 version

PC one is already out and will be way better in teh end ne ways.

Ps2 requires you to purchase a whole new set of stuff.

even ppl with 56k can play FFXI on PC


besides that though teh game is great and real fun to play.
and there is a story....but i guess some people *cough* only run around lvl'ing up cuz they cant find where to go...guess the worlds to big for em

and yes the world is pretty HUGE i mean not SWG but big still
