This thread is for all discussion on baseball.... *just like the NWO of Dragid*

Prod if you could do the honors of stickying this and the other 3 thad be great....

so let me start off this thread with.....

The Red sox...
What do you think of their chances of getting A-Rod?

Personally....
I see it as a reality.... Nomar and Manny for A-rod and a minor...
manny and a-rod have big contracs and nomar would be for value...

hmm.. dunno if its a good move for sox although they could get more money for other players. the only difference a-rod will make will probably by homers.. and maybe rbis.. but would you want after you lose your top guys in both those categories?

i just highly doubt that itll happen.. but it might.. i guess.

but what bout the yankees? who do you think theyll get this year? anyone?

JimmyBui

a-rod going to the red sox would be masterful, just think about it,nomar as SS and a-rod as a DH,the red sox would be one hell of a team, but i dont think yankees are getting anybody, except acouple of minor leagers with the money they'll get when clemens leaves, but i think they'll just resign alot, get rid of boone, and get a set up man for rivera if they can get benitas out of the line up

but i also wanna know, where will sheffield be heading?

shishimaru
11-29-2003, 04:44 AM
i heard that yankees might be going after hasegawa whos on the mariners. hasegawa also said that he would like to be on a team that could win it all (mariners can.. dunno why he said that). but if he joins the yankees, how would he do? hes not a strike out pitcher and lets the batters hit the ball..

JimmyBui
11-29-2003, 01:46 PM
Well Akai,if the yankees can make Pettite a 20 game winner and have an ERA of 4.00 and above, what wont they do to improve hasegawa?

big news here,Curt shilling is officially a Red Sox,yeapp,he signed a 25.5million dollar multi year contract extension

so now the red sox are complete

Schilling,Pedro,Lowe and Wakefield, also like to add ByungKim
with their hittting team, they'll be Pennant winners

hasegawa aint that great..im from near seattle and i watch them all the time..but yea after the Mariners lose ichiro, its over for us..

o0o schilling goin to boston eh?go boston w00t w00t

shishimaru
11-30-2003, 02:08 AM
hmm.. schillings going to sox eh? i dunno.. at least its a plus for a few years but giving up a couple young pitchers for someone whos already 37? i dunno bout that...

and also, how do you think atlantas gonna do next year.. they lose like.. what? a lot of people.. or they might.

JimmyBui
11-30-2003, 03:48 PM
Well yeah, the yankees are trying to pull in Sheffield for a multi year deal, and if the braves love sheffield, they wont be such a great team anymore, their pitching staff would be too old, they'd need an extra outfielder to join Chipper and A.Jones
But whos gonna support Marcus Giles and Castilla in the infield?
They won't be the Braves we saw in 2003
and if the yankees get sheffield, they're also looking for a deal with white sox to get Bartolo Colon which will give them the option to trade of Pettite and get another man
so that'd give them
Mussina
Colon
Rivera
Benitas
Weaver
and they're other so many great pitchers they have

but also like to know, since we're in this baseball talk, who will be the nobody team to the wildcard team?
here i say Padres, they have a great young pitching staff
with giles, klesko, hernandez and long grabbed from A's
Nevin,Loretta and they're great guys
what u think?

Infinite Limit
11-30-2003, 05:10 PM
man the yankees are gonna be ustoppable if they get bartolo..the yankees have too much money on there hands and they will prolly try to grab A rod when hes contract is done for..i personally hope that the Red Sox will win next year since they got schilling and Padro on da same team..i hope padro gets his groove back too, hes gettin pretty old

shishimaru
11-30-2003, 06:38 PM
wild card eh? pretty hard to call right now though. perhaps.. kc? i dunno.. tough to call.. or maybe boston?

and bout sd, they did pretty good considering they lost 2 key players from the start (nevin, hoffman). if they come back next year with all their players healthy, they might have a chance at it.

oh ya.. and i read in a japanese newspaper that yankees might be after nomo..

JimmyBui
12-02-2003, 12:31 AM
i doubt the yankees will get Hideo Nomo
since now they have Gary Sheffield out in right field with bernie and Hideki Matsui which gives them a super team

while today Sexson was traded to arizona wiht 2 pitchers for craig counsell, junior spivey and 2 pitchers,no big shot names other then the 3 mentioned in the trade

With all this free agenscy going and trades

where do you guys think
-Keith Foulke
-Vlad Guerrero
-Colon
-Robby Alomar and Tejada willland during all thse big moves?

shishimaru
12-02-2003, 08:10 PM
looks like sheffields going to NY though :eek3: . im just wondering where hell bat.

1. soriano
2. jeter (or soriano)
3. giambi (or sheffield)
4. bernie
5. sheffield (or giambi)
6. matsui (posada)
7. posada (matsui)
8. boone
9. some other person..

that look right?

and NY will look for some pitching too.. perhaps colon? if they lose petitte and wells.. they already lost clemens.. so thats 3 of their starters.. and you know NY. so who do you think will be their starter?

and bout sexson, hmm.. another big trade. i dunno how he will do in the d-backs lineup with luis gonzalez batting in front of him.

as for the players you said, i dunno where they would go.. seriously, i have no clue. theres way to many big names that are available this season.

I, being a native of New England, think I have some responsibilty to bring a Red Sox fan's perspective to the table. The Red Sox getting Schilling is a definite plus. It gives a hell of a lot more confidence of the pitching rotation. We hope that they get rid of BK. And, lastly, getting A-Rod would kick ass. That is all.

:umm: I guess if its possible, I would trade Manny for A-Rod rather than Nomar and then bring up an average rookie with a good arm, good glove, and decent hitting who could pull an Ortiz (come out of nowhere to hit it big) to replace Manny, but if it comes down to it, I guess I wouldn't trade Nomar for A-Rod. That's just my personal preference. I'm sure there are SOME Red Sox fans who'd give anything to see A-Rod come to Boston, but I'm not that desperate.

Well shenlong, theo Epstein is stupid for adding curt schilling

WHY?
because the yankees now have Javier Vazquez from Montreal
with Sheffield and resiging boone
they also will have Tommy Gordon Felix Heredia and Paul Quantrill to the bull pen
so add one more great starter to the yankees and watch them go against the red sox, because its going to be one great match

maybe to ur question go phillies even though they lost last yearbut almost made the playoffs

JimmyBui

well here is some free agent action lately

Mets-Kazuo Matsui signed
Angels-Kelvim Escobar signed,Bartolo Colon-soon to sign
Mariners-Eddy Guardado signed, will now theres hasegawa, everyday eddy and kazzy -_-
Trade-Well rumors spread saying that A rod might be traded for nomar and MAnny, its really stupid,i mean a rod is good, but i would have the 2 in my batting order
Yankees and Dodgers- Well if petitte isnt re-signed, then they will trade him for kevin brown
Mariners- will most likely sign Miguel Tejada
Orioles-will most likely sign Vlad Gue and Javy Lopez,Orioles will be a great team if this goes through

shishimaru
12-10-2003, 01:26 AM
damn.. yankees going after brown if they lose pettite? i would hate to see brown going to yankees. and if orioles get both javy and vlad, oh my. 2 mvp class players all of a sudden. so many teams to follow.. glad that angels got colon. they really needed a decent starter.

shishimaru
12-13-2003, 05:08 PM
foulke to boston.. guess they needed him. what else.. i guess the big story is, a-rod to boston. you think its gonna happen?

JimmyBui
12-13-2003, 05:33 PM
well if foulke is going to boston, then a-rod isnt,i mean if a-rod goes to boston, the rangers are asking for a big trade, rumors spread saying nomar and manny are whats going on with a -rod,but i mean i think its stupid to trade to players almost as good as a-rod for just a-rod with stats alittle above nomar/manny

for instance,in 2003 these are the numbers
Alex Rodriguez
R-124
H-181
HR-47
RBI-118
SB-17
BB-87
AVG- .298

Nomar Garciaparra
R-120
H-198
HR-28
RBI-105
SB-19
BB-39
AVG- .301

Manny Ramirez
R-117
H-185
HR-37
RBI-104
SB-3
BB-97
AVG- .325

Manny and Nomar
R-237
H-383
HR-65
RBI-209
SB-22
BB-136
AVG- .313

Thats
113 more runs then a-rod
202 more hits then a-rod
18 more home runs then a-rod
91 more runs batted in then a-rod
5 more stolen bases then a-rod
49 more walks then a-rod
.15 better avg then a-rod

the 2 combined, really work better then a-rod,can someone explain what the red sox are thinking?

shishimaru
12-13-2003, 06:31 PM
i have no clue what they are thinking. i prefer nomar over a rod anyday (maybe just me). a rod might have just a slight lead in fielding but other than that..

suxorz for a-rod thats what he gets for being greedy 3 years ago now he will be a looser for the next 7 years ha ha ha. he should had taken the second highest bid which was the one atlanta made but no he had too be greedy ^_^

01-11-2004, 07:48 PM
well since ive made my coemback i'll takeover the throne that was kept warm for me...

seeing manji back... woah thats wierd..... maddux still is not the greatest pitcher of all time....

but anyways... What about Vlad...
$60 million 3 years to The Last minute Angels.....

with the addation of vlad it is being assumed angels will try to trade garret anderson (not footballs greatest kicker) but the allstar MVP of 2003 to another club....

JimmyBui
01-11-2004, 10:19 PM
Well, garret can paly left and have vlad in right, but since hes out of the orioles hands, now the orioles will chase pudge rodriguez and have him and javy lopez who is already signed switch off behind the plate and dh,and since pudge rejected a 28millon dollar deal,he should cost mroe then that, and more of orioles, they now have caught rafael palmiero back to be a orioles who was a former oriole b4 going to the rangers,he avged 40 hrs as an oriole, and now would continue to keep his hrs in that range

anyone who says that the red sox should go after a-rod is an idiot. a-rod is the best player in baseball. the red sox trade manny to texas for a-rod then trade nomar. i dont no where some of u got the idea that the deal would be nomar and manny for a-rod. so the red sox get a-rod and pull a 3-way trade with the white sox and the dodgers. the red sox get magglio ordonez and the dodgers get nomar and the white sox will probably just get minor leagues cuz kenny williams is a moron.

so what it comes down to for the red sox is getting a-rod and magglio ordonez for manny and nomar. that would be a great deal for the red sox.

btw i hope none of this happens cuz i am a yankees fan and i dont wanna see the red sox get a-rod the heirarchy of baseball might be changed...

Who would have thought that the Red Sox would be down 3-0 in a series and win the next 8 games including the World Series. I don't think it will take another 86 years for the Red Sox to win if they can keep there team the way it is.

I wonder what the Yankees are going to cough up this year? Maybe they'll get the best free agent second baseman to replace Cairo become an even more unstopabble batting team that is all money but no championships.

im glad that the Red Sox beat the Yankees, even if im not especailly a Red Sox fan. Boston had been hoping long enough ;) i think it would have been funny though if the Cards in the World Series went down 3-0 and then won it :D

Yankees will be the best team if they keep their batting lineup, they get Pedro (which is likely to happen), and they get another great starting pitcher. Boom! Best team ever :)

It might be the best team ever, but for the past years, the Yankees seems to have everything in place but fall apart in the playoffs. I thought this year was their year with unstoppable bats and strong-armed pitchers, but they lost to the Red Sox blowing a 3-0 lead.
