Yeah...I hate that with a passion. Too many people I know generalize anime and think that its all kiddy and "Pokemonish". I sorta feel sorry for them, cause they are missing out on a completely credible and sometimes meaningful art form....oh well...

Usually when someone says that I cut them off half way with "No, shutup, you have no idea what your talking, stop speaking now." That usually shuts them up or gets them pissed enough to change the subject.

Yes.. yes... I show people my shounen ai pics(To piss off guys), and they're all like "Quite showing me ur pokemon guys kissing!" It's certainly not Brock and Ash kissing, and that gets me mad. Or when people see my Chihiro pic, my D pics, or my Kenshin pics on my planner, they always somehow have to mention that they're "pokemon or whatever". I just correct them and go on with my day, unless they decide to come back at me.. They also refer to my anime stuff as "dragon ball z".

yeah, but people who don't know much about anime say anime is pokemon. *sigh* i get caught in those situations. but i don't correct them like i know it all, i just say something like, 'these are anime eyes, not pokemon eyes. and this is just the way i draw.'

I hate it... ya I draw anime style too and some annoying ***** who decided to sit at the ther side of our table (our as in my groups table... nobody really wants to sit by us crazy freshmen O_o) and she decided to make fun of us by asking "Hey can I see oyur Pokemon?!" so we just kinda insulted her back and it was really funny how she reacted. In our school, I don't know much freshmen who insult sophmores... not that it's a huge deal. I only called her a dumbass and she was all like "OMG Do you wanna say that to my face?!"

so I did. and then it was even FUNNIER cuz when she told a teacher, he shrugged it off. haha

back to topic:
Ya, thats gotta be the most annoying thing. lotsa people tease me about it, and I correct them and go back to drawing. It doesn't offend me when i "draw pokemon" because I don't. so how could it be offending? O.o But I really hate it when peple degrate all anime to pokemon. THAT pisses me off. Then when you have like one pic of anime they're like "LOOK IT'S POKEMON!" I get it all the time so it's really not pissing my off anymore. I just think of how stupid they are for not knowing it's something like cowboy bebop, or something GOOD.

Ya I would hate it if someone came up to me while wearing an anime shirt with a GOOD anime on it (that CN ruined... or some other TV station.) and have them totally mispronounce it* and think they know more then me from watching it all on CN... I don't have any anime T-shirts.. There's no place to get them here. The only anime T-shirt I have is.. Blech. POKEMON. Well, my sister made a shirt that says "Got Oro?" on the back... If you count that as anime.

Same kinda thing with the word "Pokémon". It seems as though everyone is blind to the accent mark over the "e".

Well I hate my school, all of the people totaly hate anything to do with Anime!-_- The only people who don't are 3 of my friends. I really hate one thing about my friends who don't like Anime, well I used to be very girly and always wanted to fit in with the "popular" group untill one day I just snapped and decided I was going to be my own person. I decided to do what I like and not care what anyone else thought which was Anime. I fell deeply in love with Naruto, FMA, and Inuysha, I could not do anything else other than live and breath Anime. My friends(non-loving japanese culture) did not support the idea of me changing instantly in what the called a Creepy-Large-Eyed-Loving-Spikey-Haired-Pokemon-Freak. It was so annoying because I wasn't even doing anything that had to do with Pokemon! Every time I talked about it they would tell me to shut up.>< I definitely don't hang around with them anymore. Another thing that really annoys me is when someone makes fun of you for likikng something when really behind it all they like that something too. At my school people love to pick on people who like Anime expecially my friend. She used to love Yu-Gi-OH GX and they always, always made jokes about her since fifth grade. NO one really says anything to me because they think I draw good and I draw Anime too! I just don't get it?!..........................*long sigh*

Well when I was younger I had to explain to my friends what anime is and I used Pokemon, yugi Oh, and some other ones. Then once that is done then I introduced them to some better ones. Though I hate it when they refer anime as kiddy stuff. First of all anime is for all ages. When I hear people say that I start a normal conversation that doesn't involve anime then lead it to the topic. Then burn them like there is no tomorrow and change their opinions for the time being.

Pokemon has kind of fallen back into pop culture obscurity. Kind of like Power Rangers or Spongebob. It's there, you're not really sure who watches it, but somebody must because it's been there as long as you can remember.
The parental world doesn't really call it pokemon anymore, but I heard someone call it recently "Japanimation".

And then there are those bizaare mispronounciations. (sp) Something to the efffect of anemone, or a-nim. Fun stuff like that.

Not really. If you look closely at the dates starting from 2003, it goes back one year, then forward one then forward 545, then back 4+3, then back 1, then starts from 29203 or something....

W/e. Moral of the story: Pokemon - bad anime, great game. besides, all of those people were probably closet hentai fappers.

I'm amazed of just how much ingnorance was put into that. I may not be the most hardcore otaku ever but I know well enough never to compare anime to still art (ie: portraits/sculpture/Etc). You should never compare one class of art to an opposite class. There is no point to the argument because neither side will win. EVER. And you should never say that there is a right way to art. that's just so ****ing ignorant.

All I can say is they do not know what they are missing because I think Anime is very fun to like. I have the best time of my life when I go to conventions and see all the art and different Anime. This year I went to see the first Naruto movie and I thought the best part was seeing all of the people cosplaying and being friends with you even though they don't know you. I was so happy to see that there are a lot of people who like Anime it's just they are scattered around everywhere.

People who complain about individuals generalizing anime are stupid, and should stop caring about anime so much. If it takes one wildly popular anime series for people to relate to what you're talking about, then that's what it takes. Atleast they have a vague idea of what you're talking about and try to relate to a more general topic. If someone says "Hey, is that like Pokemon?" Or plainly "Is that Pokemon?", stop being a stuck up punk and just tell them "Not exactly, but something pretty similar.".
Well it's true that people shouldn't care too much, but you can't really say they're the same. Would you really put cowboy bebop and pokemon on the same level? They're both cartoons, but that's where they similarity ends. Well, I'm not a big enough prick to care when people do that, but I can understand people who do.
