Why does Mamimi get red eyes?

In FLCL, Mamimi has red eyes at one point (maybe at other parts too that i don't remember). How come she gets those red eyes?

she gets them prolly when shes in her *pyro* mode where is calling on canti,,,but you also have to take into consideration, that with animes when theres a dramatic moment, the animators usually will accentuate the eyes or something, to make them appear more dynamic or something
