Shonen Jump

How well does Shonen Jump follow the actual Japanese manga? I've heard complaints before that it didn't follow it very well, like they changes character's words, and even plots all together! Is this true?

I like it because it had Naruto in it. Thats one of my favorite mangas, and they have the issues that havent come out translated yet!

Shonen jump sticks to its japanese counter part very well . it is first written by the japanese artist and then translated in English for Shonen Jump to publish ....

Lo: I went to hawaii and when i was in the airport saw a shonen jump that was in japanese , bought the theing and still am trying to figure it out ... that was 2 years ago i bought it too -__-

Some of the manga's in there are BS. But I like Naruto and Shaman King. And they're gonna add Hikaru No Go. But the only thing that sucks about Shounen JUmp is that fact they issue it out every month, leaving you with cliffhangers.

Yes, the cliff hangers are definitly B-A-D. I hate them with all of my heart, making me wanna buy the next issue the moment it comes out. But, hell, I guess that's Shonen Jump's game plan, eh?

Shonen Jump...I don't like it. Yes, it does change a bit of the dialogue to fit Western culture, but so do Viz, Tokyopop, Del Rey...etc. Except it was..Tokyopop, I think, who leave the original things in there and have editor's notes where they explain the humor.
I just dont like SJ because I bought a One Piece manga from them once, and in a speech bubble they actually put "!@&#$" ....I understand it's meant to be read by kids, so they can't have profanity in it, but still...that irked me. Also the sound effects.


Find fan-translations, they're usually MUCH better.

Ugh, those damned sound effects. -.- I agree, find Fan-translated mangas. Or just download the japanese episodes with sub-titles. (If they have a show. Like Naruto, and Inuyasha.)

AND inuyasha is to popular for it. anyways inu yash is a crap manga. ranma is original. Inuyasha is just stealing ideas from her other mangas so NO inuyasha in shonen Jump.

I might as well subscribe to the magazine since over half of my manga is Bleach and Naruto. Tokyopop has been getting on my nerves too. They've been releasing really old manga and Clamp novels like they're brand new.

lol i have read shonen since the 2nd issue and i love it. Screw it if its changed but there really isnn't anthing i don't like about it except how they always put yugioh on the cover so that kids who like yugioh willl be like "OMG it yu gi oh LETS BUY IT" and i alwasys skipped DBZ casue i really don't like it....

Well I'm not so sure about the change, but I have seen the change in some character names. However if they did I wouldn't be surprised beccause people have to censor some things.
