Same thing with trying to mix 2 different songs together. But as far as the end result, thinking is involved in both.

I like both, so I don't think either is better. Also, I think they're too different to compare.

They're really not all that different. Like you said, they both involve thinking. And the beats they use for rap songs are a lot like techno songs. Its pretty easy to freestyle off of a techno beat.

Techno is better...

Advanced electronic compositions are seven million times better than techno or rap. This type of music I speak of can many times display aspects of techno...yet it is not as boring...not by a long shot. IT will typically have some variations from all existing genres, or may stick to one in particular...but it always kicks ass.
A good example of this would be in some of the new songs for Rangarok Online, or the Final Fantasy Series...Wumpscut has been known to create such things as well. Typically this is the kind of music I focus on when I compose on the computer. I can send anyone who is interested a sample of the songs that I make.

I got a question, what the hell does anime have to do with this thread? And by the by if your gonna use to animes to say why techno is good, next time use good animes. Altough the rythm emotion song from GW was good.

Anyways I really don't prefer one over the other. Okay, maybe sometimes I do, it depends. Commercial rap and some of the really annoying techno (like some in ddrmax2 for the ps2) really are the black sheps in either case. But I'd have to say I prefer techno more often then not.

The two genres of music you should be comparing on this are Rock and Rap, those are alot closer. If you were comparing Tech, I would compare it to Disco. Heres a histroy lesson for you on the roots of House.

Disco originally began the use of synthesizers and keyboards along with a mix of instruments and what not. Later being spawned into two categories Rap and House (Not techno), the first rap artists were The Last Poets, Grandmaster Flash, and Sugar Hill Gang. The first House group was probably C+C Music Factory, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, and Derrick May. Who were the first House and DJ's. Disco really was the basis more of House then anything. Theres the history lesson. Now stop saying Disco sucks because without it you wouldn't have your "techno."

Both have repetative beats and sounds. So whoever said things about rap being to repetative and boring, I think everyone's bull**** detector should've went code red on def con 7.

I like techno sometimes because there are enjoyable beats. But if i were to say how good techno was in the general sense... I hate it with a passion. It takes less skill to create techno music. Damn, I've made some decent ones on a program called Acid Pro. Add some decent drum and bass drum beats with good repetative sounds and TADA, here's a good techno for you.

It takes more skill to make rap music. Yes sometimes there is sampling and yes some beats are not original, but that's not for every one of them. So whoever said that it takes less skill to create rap rather than techno is wrong. No doubt it has to take a little more skill to create beats and all that, but that's basically where techno music ends. Rap needs words added.

I'd like to see all of you techno-fanatics create some on-beat lyrics and make those lyrics sound like actual poetry like old-school rappers did. Tu-Pac was a genius when it came to words. Even though rap today is full of "money, *****es, hos, pimps, cars, gold, bling-bling, nigga" and all that, having the ability to string words together, on beat, and make it sound good is pretty damn hard. No, rap isn't simple like making a song that goes ending with "mouse, house, louse, (insert words that rhyme with mouse here)" and all that. Rap consists of end rhyming, rhyming inside lines, and rhymes that rhyme over the course of 6 or 7 verses even. That is a friggin challenge.

So... if I had to choose, Rap is better.

Go listen to DJ Shadow and stop flaming. Not really anything can be called "techno" alot of it is fromr eal instruments and tweaked using analog equipment like mixers and things like a voccoder and Turntables. The software isnt as popular with actual Electronica artists and DJ's. No real rythm? Wrong. Why is it You're cursing and flaming sure makes rap look stupid. Grow some brains if thats possible.

first of all rap is not horrible. one example is eminem's old song called i "sing for the moment" its not about sex or girls. the song "lose yourself" from eight mile movie isnt either. its about seizing the moment. ur just sterotyping. techno and trance waves of the future? thats so corny but if its ur opinion... ive said it b4 but i like rap better in certain moods and techno in others.

Oh, another thing with rap is, if you hear certain songs, (not all..), only 3 words aren't censored. IT's rather funny to listen to, all you hear is the beat..... another reason why techno is better. MTV doesn't have techno too, and whatever on MTV is usually bad....
